Just a few minutes from MXP Airport lies Somma Lombardo, one of the small towns surrounding the airport where many of the "airport hotels" are. Corte Visconti is an excellent alternative to dining in your hotel, as a nice conclusion to a holiday in Italy, or as a fine dining experience before an early departure to an overseas destination.Charming warm atmosphere in thhe winter, and a nice small garden terrace in the summertime. Family run, very friendly owners. Good selection of wines and 5-star menu. Either before or after dinner, you may include a nice walk by the Castello Visconti Castle in the centre of Somma Lombardo. The restaurant lies in a small alley just by the castle, but difficult to find using Google Maps: I suggest just heading for the Castle and then park in front of it, walking the few yards to the restaurant. Prices are a bit on the higher end, but worth it.

This what I'm sure used to be called pizzeria al Volo - it's located adjacent to the Grand Hotel Milan Malpensa and can be accessed from behind reception or in front next to the hotel main entrance (plenty of car parking). Good points are the opening time until midnight, convenient for hotel residents and the staff are willing if a little slow. The bad are the canteen style inside dining and the state that some customers appear in, as if they've just fallen out of bed from one of the hotel rooms. Also, the aperitvos when we visited and sat outside had been left on the counter top for a while and this is not in any way hygienic due to flies and heat etc - so if you visit and notice the same then I would either avoid or just have the crisps. Surely it's not too difficult to keep them inside and bring out as necessary?This is neither fine dining nor a locals eatery - it is what it is - a convenient place to satify hunger pangs before next day departure onwards.
