Rheinfelden (Swiss German: Rhyfälde, [ˈɾiːfæld̥ə]) is a municipality in the canton of Aargau in Switzerland, seat of the district of Rheinfelden. It is located 15 kilometres east of Basel. The name means the fields of the Rhine, as the town is located on the Hochrhein. It is home to Feldschlösschen, the most popular beer in Switzerland. The city is across the river from Rheinfelden in Baden-Württemberg; the two cities were joined until Napoleon Bonaparte fixed the German–Swiss border on the Rhine in 1802 and are still socially and economically tied.

The food is amazingly good but the ambiance in this classy hotel is zero. We had a drink outside before we entered the restaurant. Nice selection of food. Everyone should be able to find something and all dishes cooked perfectly. Staff was friendly and ok. But there was really nothing with any wow factor... and that is a missed opportunity.

We visited for a quick lunch and the set menu was fresh and large enough.One colleague did find a slug pellet in his salad, which kind of put us off. But for a cheap and cheerful lunch it was fine.

This is more of an endorsement than a review. We've been visiting Andreas and Beatrice for several years, from Farnsberg to Olsberg.The other reviews give you an idea of the history, and the situation. We recently returned to Putzi's for a dinner, with friends from America who remembered fondly their previous meal at Farnsberg six years previously. The dinner did not disappoint, yet again.The restaurant has a wonderful wine cellar, with some american wines that you can no longer find in the US except in restaurants, and frankly, at prices lower than you can find in the US. We would always recommend taking an apero in the wine cellar after you order your dinners, and select a wine from their extensive collection.The menu, as stated by the other reviews, is limited, but it is very well thought out with seasonal foods and special menus. Whatever you order is very very well put together.Andreas and Beatrice have always treated us like we were friends...the wait staff always treated us like we were special, and any unusual request should be honoured (rather than being inconvenient) . The ambiance is great for a private dinner, a group dinner, or a work function.We will continue to visit Putzi's, and introduce our friends to this fine dining experience.
