Cafe TBQ is an expansion of the âtasallibaQshâ (TBQ) concept from Gurgaon to Leh. TBQ is our take on what good food is and an exploration of what Indian food is really all about...not based on recipes but rather on the availability of produce and the meth
Cafe TBQ is a Fine Dining restaurant cum a two suite Bed & Breakfast (Chalung House) on an urban farm , irrigated with glacial spring water, walkable distance from the Leh epicentre, The farm has 180 degree views of the stok range of mountains, including Lehâs best view of Stok Kangri. The farm has a resident dzo, three cows, two cats, two petit dogs and dozens of birds, including magpies. For flora, there are a dozen fruiting apple and peach trees. Shivendra is cultivating lentils, spinach, maize, onion and several local salad greens on the farm.We were the first guests at Chalung House, the 2 side mountain view suites are modern yet preserve the culture, ceilings are traditional Ladhakhi made of poplar and willow wood, the bathroom is modern and clean. The rooms are furnished with fair cotton bed spreads and towels, there are solar chargers, double walled thermo flasks for hot water, a carefully curated selection of tea and coffee for ready consumption. There is no fixed menu, you eat whatever and whenever. There is a well trained local staff of four to ensure the resident guests enjoy the best hospitality. Breakfast was simple and very basic âa three organic egg white omelette with yak cheese on toast, accompanied with pork and sautéed in extra virgin olive oil - silken tofu and local spinach. There was a fine selection of teas, including a highly recommended Jasmine tea.Dinner was local rice, flat bread, smoked pork, local ladakhi lentils, flash fried aubergine chips and organic potatoes cubes, different types of local spinach sautéed in organic stone ground mustard oil, accompanied with two saladsâ â whole turnips and assorted greens. We stayed three nights and four days. We plan to go there again in September.

Super small portion, I remained hungry. The pasta was very little, tasted like bread with tomato sauce and waiter was super annoying. Great disappointment for relatively expensive price.

We had a takeaway order for starters as well as dinner. The food was really tasty and the manager was very polite as well. The tea in the restaurant is also very good. We had taken a kashmiri wazwan dish and that was truly amazing. Overall a whiff of fresh air from the other restaurants in the market.

To be honest we didnât expect much, because it is a place in main backpackers â street. We had Ladakhi-Tibetan food which was really nice, freshly made and served properly. And the prices are just great, even not expensive! Will visit this place again.

Leh's Crown Jewel. You would never expect such a place in the middle of the mountains anywhere in the world let alone in Leh, Ladakh. The minute you come in you are enticed to sit on the cushioned floor seating overlooking the snow-capped mountain peaks. Other places in Leh which I have been to have been either facing the opposite direction of the mountains or the view is obstructed; not Bodhi Greens. Atmosphere. Food. Service. They were all stellar and above my expectations. I was worried that the quality and consistency of their food and service could not be maintained but because the owners so humbly work there everyday (you would think they are guests!) they make sure everything runs smoothly while entertaining customers and giving some local knowledge here and there. I cannot stress enough how nice the experience was here, in terms of service, atmosphere, and food. If you are in the Leh region, this restaurant is must visit even if you don't like vegan food.

I visited the Lamayuru restaurant in Leh city last May'19 with my wife. She opted for some Tibetan dish but I went for conventional Chinese dish, food was excellent tasty and most of all well prepared. We have nice memory of Lamayuru restaurant.

Bon Appetit is closed for the winter. We hope to see you all mid-May 2018. Thank You
This place is slightly hidden from the main market but maybe that is what makes it so peaceful. The menu is diverse and interesting and the food is yummy. One of the best places in ladakh that we visited. There is ample outside seating that overlooks the beautiful mountains and valley.
