Where the trendy locals go for steaksWe asked several locals what is to the top resturant in Heraklion these days and they all answered Kouzeineri.Classy design, top quality meat but a little to posh for my style. They offer a broad menu, but I did the mistake of ordering a shrimp risotto in a meat eatery.... so that mistake is on me. The halloumi cheese starter was creative and tasty but my risotto was to salty. My friends ribs was great, but based on the high prices and the risotto I give it only 3 stars this timeTip: I recommend to dress up a little if you go here, since the local guests are so posh looking

No complaints about the view or the service. The food though was average, the menu limited and not great value. My chicken penne pasta with Santorini cherry tomatoes sounded great but was just boiled pasta with a small amount of tomato sauce, cheese and a few small pieces of chicken. Casual chill place to grab a bite in the center. Not huge menu but you can find many choices especially for pizza and burgers. Service was fast and dinner enjoyable. Everything is fresh and home made, you can see them cutting the eggplants and prepare the salads. Food is not to grassy and heavy as in other places. Big salads for four euros including pita bread and complementary water. Hope this place will keep such nice wibe long time. The home made apricot juice is also very nice. If I had known, I would have come more often.

After having some not so nice experience in Heraklion we tried Maxim, based on the reviews here. We were not disappointed. As appetizer we had mussels saganaki, a huge plate with mussels and vegetables covered with melted cheese. Main course was a traditional dish made of lamb, delicious as well. 2 persons shared 1 portion of each since we wanted to try more than one plate, and it was actually too much! Portions are big. Even if we were full, the server brought us fruits and raki on the house, very good option for desert.
