While the restaurant is located in a nice area, parking is less than convenient. As far as I could tell there was no off-street parking for guests, which meant circling the block a few times to find a parking spot on the street. While our server was nice and gave me and my friends time to catch up and stuff, she wasn't very attentive at all. We ordered some cheese curds first but then disappeared for a bit not taking our order for dinner. My friend enjoyed the wings, and I loved my Trempealeau walnut burger, but again, the server seemed to forget about us as we needed napkins, water refills, etc. I recommend for the food but that's about it.Jenn, thank you so much for taking time to review us and let us know of your experience. We are very happy to hear that you liked the cheese curds, burger, and wings. Unfortunately it sounds like our service wasn't the best that day and we apologize. Please stop in again and let us show you this was hopefully an isolated issue. In addition, we have added 27 new parking spots within 100 feet of the restaurant to alleviate some of those parking issues. Thanks for the four stars and come back soon!

After driving for hours, it was quite convenient to find a restaurant in the Days Inn. My husband and I enjoyed the burgers we had, and the staff was very polite. They also offer some locally brewed beers on tap if you like to try different beers. Prices were very reasonable. The menu included appetizers, pizza, sandwiches and burgers if I recall correctly. They also have daily specials. We appreciate your comments. I know the staff in the bar and grill care about what they do and am glad to see you the benefits of their hard work paid off! Castaway's on the Island is new. Owned and operated by the owners of Tom Sawyer's Bar and Grill, across the street, Castaway's is open for public, check website for hours, and also used for private parties and events (and catering). This particular event was our department Holiday party for Gundersen Health System's ~ Labor, Delivery, and Postpartum. Castaway's is situated on the Black River. It was evening, but it appears there would be very nice views of the river, inside or out. Beachy atmosphere (Love that!).This party was private. Ample seating indoors (as it is January in Wisconsin), but seating outdoors in warmer weather. Full cash bar, drinks reasonably priced, and delicious food. (Tho I am unaware of the cost of the party, as it was provided to us by our employer.)The food was buffet style. Starters were "shish kabobs", mini cocktail wieners, and meatballs. The dinner was salad, topped with fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, white onions, sides of various salad dressings and croutons. Grilled pork loin (juicy and flavorful), chicken (that would have been better grilled too...just my personal opinion) but otherwise very juicy and not dried out, mashed potatoes and gravy. Steamed veggies, broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots, done very well. Sides of butter and sour cream. And tho I don't need the calories, was looking for the bread to go with the meal.All in all, cost unknown to me for this event, atmosphere and food and mixed drinks were great. I would consider having a party here, if priced right.And I do plan to return to try out their menu, a drink, and the view.

We called for a reservation for 5 people for Sunday 12/16/18. They informed us they close early on Sundays but 4:00pm would be fine.We arrived shortly before 4 and they informed us they closed early. Our reservation was even in their reservation book. They gave us a $30. Gift card for the inconvenience but we wonât be back. Terrible way to treat customers!
