Excellent food and service in beautiful surroundings, with plenty of local ale. We also do are own walking book with six circular walks to suite all.We open all day every day from 10am until 11.30, food is served from 12 until 2.30 for lunch and 6 until 9
We went to the Boot on an early evening - there were lots of people enjoying a beverage in a very pretty outdoor patio space. The inside of the Boot is eclectic and very old - in a good way - low ceiling beams, fireplace and nicely appointed tables. We shared the backed camembert and I had a penne dish that had a hint of heat with olive oil and tomatoes. The flavours were excellent, the wine list was not extensive but offered nice variety and good quality and the servers and staff were very friendly. It is a place that look forward to visiting on my next trip over the pond to the Cheater area next year.

Comfortable dining in aesthetic surroundings. Evening meals during the week 6pm to 10pm. Lunches midday to 3pm, Coffee and cake all day. Sunday dinners from midday to 6pm. Suitable for couples and small groups. Cozy surroundings, open fire, somewhere nice
Took family out for a birthday dinner. Restaurant was full and despite us turning up later than booked, a warm friendly welcome greeted us.Orders were taken efficiently and drinks served. Still working on the Wine menu but recommended a very inexpensive bottle that was in stock.Food arrived promptly and was quickly polished off by all the family.Excellent lamb, loads of spuds and veggies. No credit card machine so had to go cash point but the when I got the bill (for 7 people) was amazed at the great value.A great addition to the village offering home cooked food at great value

I was expecting nothing more than a satisfying flavorsome Gastro meal experience that I have experienced at many other restaurants, but I can only express a very disappointed evening out with the family. The only pro to the evening was the venue it's a comfortable feel, however that is where it stops. The booking of the meal was made two weeks before the date to celebrate a birthday, and the restaurant required a pre-ordered food menu, there was not a problem with that. The display of food plated was typical of a Gastro restaurant, but the quality is far from pleasing, now if I am wrong I apologize the question is, should the basic vegetables and meat taste like vegetables and meat, well to myself and my family they should, unfortunately they did not, everything apart from the peppers and sour cream was bland with absolutely no flavour at all. If one goes to a Gastro rated restaurant the food should have taste enhanced by a competent Chef who should be held to account, I honestly could have gone to a pub restaurant and had a much better meal.My review is mainly about the food, but there are other issues, long waits for food, A guitar vocalist with distorted pa sound, waiters with FBI ear pieces, and a birthday celebration disaster. I think the manager will be pleased to note that, " We will NOT be back", I have only written this to advise people of our experience, please check other feedback.

Great food little disappointed that we arrived at 6.30 and there was no roast Turkey or Beef left but there was plenty of other things to choose from on the menu so was still a great evening, staff are really friendly and helpful. Elpresdente, thank you for your kind review; we are happy to pass along your comments to the team here at The Spread Eagle!

Visited at Lunch time and ordered off the Lunch Menu. I ordered the Chicken Caesar Sandwich and my Partner ordered the Salmon Fish Cakes. When the Food arrived my Sandwich was a Roll, didnât mind that but which didnât have Caesar Sauce in, instead it was a Garlic Mayo, I hate Garlic and when I questioned the Sauce I was told, that was how the Chefs made their Caesar Sauce! No offer to replace, or change my meal. My Husbands meal should have had Two Fishcakes, but there was only the one. We left and I had to go elsewhere to find decent Food I could eat. I have been here a few times now and I will never return.Hi DianeI'm sorry that you were underwhelmed when you visited us for lunch recently. Being business owner, I find it very frustrating when customers have an experience anything short of 100%. Our Caesar sauce is taken from a classic Caesar recipe. There is garlic in it, as there is in all Caesar recipes, maybe the chef had been a bit heavy-handed with this element, on this ocassion. It also says on the menu that all Express items are âserved in a rustic ciabatta rollâ and it states that the lunchtime salmon and parsley fish cake is a single fish cake.I would be more than happy to offer you and your partner a complimentary lunch.
