While visiting the Forest of Dean we had lunch at The Fountain in Parkend. It was very enjoyable and staff were very friendly. It was very busy for a Saturday but we were lucky to get a table.Food was very nice. Would highly recommend and look forward to returning soon. They have a beer garden and plenty of parking.

As a party of 5 adults and one child, we sat down at 8 and ordered. We were given complimentary bread about 25 minutes into the wait (which made me think dinner wasn't coming any time soon) and after asking how much longer it would be, it arrived almost an hour after ordering. The food was ok, however parts were undercooked which we mentioned to the staff and were given the first round of drinks on the house. This I thought at the time was a small gesture but upon looking at the receipt at home (at the time we just wanted to go) wediscovered we had be charged full price for three 2 course meals and only having three 1 course meals! The staff were polite and apologetic for the wait but I feel the issue is they are providing a service, charging good money, but do not have the resources to carry it out. Looking around that night I could see we were not the only ones tired of waiting.I know it's a struggle and balancing act trying to run a business and make a profit, however I feel the customer is the one losing out.

We came here for our final family holiday meal and certainly were not disappointed. The interior of the pub is well put together, the bathroom was modern and clean, the staff were extremely friendly and nothing was a bother. We had specific requirement for the meal as we had the dog with us and a 9 month old baby but the staff were very accommodating and had reserved an area for us without any fuss. The table had been decorated with flowers and the atmosphere felt homelyThe service was prompt, and there was plenty on the menu to tickle our tastebuds as well as the plentiful options in the specials menu as well. There wasn’t a long wait for food and when came it was extremely mouthwatering and pleasant. The lamb chops certainly were a favourite for one member of the family. The portions were of good size however it depended on the chosen dish. A very enjoyable evening felt by all, would definitely if ever back in the area.Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a full and generous review. You really have made such complimentary comments about everything from start to finish which fills us with great pride and suggests we are maintaining the high standards we set ourselves. We really look forward to seeing you all again soon.
