Great traditional pub in Ardleigh. Good standard menu and a great selection of specials - all amazing quality and beautifully presented. Good value, and some of the friendliest and helpful staff I've come across. The perfect traditional pub - I wish this was my local!

I was recommended this pub for a birthday meal with family and friends. We booked for 7pm on Thursday night, it was only for 6 people.The first time someone came to us (after requests) was 7.45pm. We then had to wait a further 45 mins for food. Not everyone got their dishes. The meals were disgusting. Fish was black, chips cold, two burgers undercooked, Beef and Ale pudding luke warm and just fatty. Items missing from certain dishes like the black pudding bom boms. I can't express my disappointed. The fastest service was to get the bill. I did ask to speak to a manager but no one was about. A young bartender said she was the supervisor. I did feel sorry for her. After a long discussion she only offered a £23.00 discount. I can't see how people give such good reviews for this place. Certainly won't be returning and passing on to family and friends not to try this place
