I left there still hungry I got the pork belly and got three small squares about 60 mm sq crackling that just about broke my teeth the entrée was ok .Thanks for taking the time to write a review. We are very sorry to hear that you did not enjoy aspects of your shared meal and I have discussed with the chef your feedback regarding the pork. At Umami, we pride ourselves on the quality of our food and service and customer satisfaction is of utmost importance to us. Our menu is based on the Southeast Asian culture of shared plates and family style dining. As such, we do not have specific entrees or mains, but instead customers enjoy choosing from an array of dishes to complement each other. I am disappointed that we did not deliver this experience. As we are about to introduce a new menu, I hope I can tempt you to give us another chance and look forward to seeing you back at Umami.Kind RegardsPaige [email protected]

First visit when newly open Great experience all round. Wonderful food and friendly quick service.Second visit average to all of the above.Third and final visit , 6 weeks ago (Lunch on a Saturday) Below average food and terrible inattentive grumpy service . I Think they all had a big night on the previous evening. My Asian salad was slimy from the overdose of dressing that it had been sitting in for a while. My husband meal was over cooked . We didn’t return his meal as we actually couldn’t get anyone to our table and had had enough by that stage. ( only 4 other tables with guests so not run off their feet), staff more asleep on their feet.It Would be awesome if it went back to how it was on our first visit, reminded me of Chow in Wellington.I find it very difficult to comprehend that a keyboard warrior such as yourself would take 6 weeks to deliver a 1 * review!! Anyone else would have demanded to speak with the manager on duty, allowing them the opportunity to remedy the situation; instead, you chose to wait 6 weeks to post your vitriolic review.Let me give you my 2 cents worth - 95% of my staff don't drink & party, & we always have very busy nights most nights of the week when open (Tuesday - Sunday), but this doesn't have an impact on my team as they are very accustomed to the great environment in which they work, the food we serve & the wonderful feedback we achieve across the board. Our rating throughout the period of your comments were 4 - 5*.Our salads are made a la minute, so never sit in any dressing until ordered, at which time they are tossed & presented immediately to the guest. As you didn't provide sufficient detail on the other meal I'm unable to comment further. You didn't elaborate further regarding your dining experience, therefore I cannot comment .Chow

What an amazing restaurant! The decorations are really imaginative and next level, good music, chill vibes and pleasant staff. It’s just a shame about the tapas. Perhaps the regular menu is nice but we didn’t try it (apart from the kids chicken and rice which ended up being the nicest dish we tried). The tapas is fairly sub par, average at best and overly dry at worst. Seems like a nice place to go for drinks.

Very unprofessional and rude in a nut shell! I ordered a coffee with coconut milk easy order. They came with a soy-mix,, said sorry but no thanks,,, order came back eventually correct. Went to pay and got given grief by the barista saying you should be paying for an extra coffee ... not funny haha but actually serious. Well hipsta boy if you do not like hospitality move on to kiwifruit or something.Unfortunately staff can ruin a business.Very disappointed to hear you felt the team were not professional enough. There is a misunderstanding with the Alpro Coconut milk - it is not a blend we make, but Alpro include 2.9 % of Soy in the Coconut milk, so in the interests of preventing issues for people with allergies we normally make this clear to people ordering coconut - it seems this time we initially missed it. We know that a genuine apology was given to you at the time. On coming to settle the account an error was found on the account and this was in fact the matter referred to by the Barista, trying to assist the cashier with the account - it was not a comment that "two coffees should be paid for". We accept and appreciate all feedback but even if an error was made we do not appreciate veiled insults about the dress or nationality of our staff - they all work hard, and take their job and hospitality seriously. If you have an issue being served by foreign staff then you are in the wrong location - there are many awesome overseas people working in hospitality in the Mount, and a large percentage are proudly employed by Tay Street Beach Cafe.

Admittedly we did arrive at this bar around early on a Friday afternoon, so we couldn't have expected the place to be pumping. In saying that, the Happy Hour had been open an hour already so we were a little wary when we found ourselves standing in a deserted bar. Still, the barman was welcoming, and gracious - mixing some delicious cocktails, and checking in on us regularly. My only complaint is that the menu offered a special price for ordering a cocktail and a plate of edamame beans. However, when it came time to pay we had to pay full price for both items (rather than the special price) since the barman explained that the cash register dictated the prices and he wasn't able to edit them. Hmmmm. Not a huge deal, just a little inconvenient.Hi TeaIanSorry to hear your experience wasn't 100% satisfactory, the bartenders response was wrong and we apologies for this. Please let us know the next time you are in and we would love to treat you to a complimentary Happy cocktail and happy beans.Warm regardsMacau Management
