This was not our first and definitely not the last time we visited the Waldrestaurant or the '222' as it has been renamed by its actual tenants.The food is always perfect, served with a smile by waiters or the chef himself. The menu is varied and offers for every purse. Absolutely fabulous: the shrimps '222'!

Tripadvisor friends, don't get me wrong. When you get up from the table at Cafe-Restaurant Zum Stehling you are not hungry and the beer was cold, but the quality of the food was average. Not precisely the "Gute Bürgerliche Küche" (Good German fare) we you can enjoy throughout Germany. The meat was a bit tough and the ambiance at the outside tables left something to be desired. Furthermore, when the salad bar inside was opened, flies attacked the food in the salad bar immediately. As there are better restaurants on the Eupener Strasse, we did not repeat this visit during our stay in a holiday home in Monschau Mützenig. For the readers of this review who want to try Cafe-Restaurant Zum Stehling: The restaurant is part of the Hotel (Gästehaus) Zum Stehling; ample parking space is available on the forecourt.

On the way home on a family trip, we stopped at Eupen for a diner. Using Tripadvisor, we chose this restaurant, and we don't regret it. As we still had a few hours driving ahead of use, we just had a main course, but despite this, we still got an amuse bouche. The menu is rather limited in choices, which is usually good for fresh ingredients. We went for the duck breast with a Asian touch. The female chef has created a very nice dish, the meat cooked to perfection, combined with about 10 different the veggies cooked to perfection too. The interior is stylish, and the service was professional. All in all, a great dish, and a great diner. It's a bit pricey though.

Kleines aber feines Bistro in Aachen Walheim, ganz sympathisch eingerichtet, unkonventionell und gemütlich. Wir hatten den leckeren Flammkuchen und eine sehr gute Käseauswahl aus der Region. Sehr umfangreiche Weinkarte mit Stars aber auch hidden champions, gut sortiert mit fairen Preisen. Sehr weinkundiger Gastgeber. Uneingeschränkte Empfehlung!

One man's clear vision and love of good food and wine have turned this former friterie (or chip shop to UK readers) into a truly fine restaurant. a real delight to eat here and you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. but take some time with you, as "mein host" or "gastgeber" (after all, we are in the german-speaking part of Belgium) may have a tale to tell for each course, choice of wine or event on the local calendar. attractive location at the junction of two rivers, plenty of parking near by and closeness to some spectacular walking/cycling country make this an ideal weekend destination for those who want to combine gastronomy with fresh air and exercise.

Beautifully presented and executed dishes. We had the oysters for starter (Zeeland I think) followed by the artichoke! For mains we had the perlhuhne which was delicious but could have been slightly more tender, and the pork hoof which was succulent and extremely filling. I highly recommend the house red for its rustic feel. The staff was extremely attentive! Overall a lovely dinner, and would definitely go back.
