Things to do in Montmorillon
Brasserie le Commerce is a great asset to the small town of Montmorillon. It's friendly and relaxed, and has a wider range of food than many French brasseries. The food is straightforward with nothing fancy on the menu. But if you're hungry and want a quick - or slow - lunch it's ideal.I undertand that it is also open in the evenings and holds music evenings that are well regarded locally. It's vegetarian friendly and can be highly recommended.

Situated next to the cinema, so, perfect if you want to combine the two - tickets available that do just that for a very very cheap evening. Fish n chips is great, and the specialities are always varied and tasty, but my personal favourite is the kids' menu, chicken cornflakes - crispy and tasy, much better than anything I've ever had from a fast food restaurant. Take-aways are superb and meals on wheels available with different menus every day at superb value. A real find and a massive plus for the area!

OK - I've used this new restaurant half a dozen times in the last month or so - and EVERY time, the food has been excellent, the service exemplary and the wine fine quality at a reasonable price. The menu changes each day and if you don't fancy it, the steaks he has in reserve are delicious. Parking just up the hill, off road and plenty of it. This resto has gained a reputation locally in very fast order - treat yourself.

We ate in here on the Saturday evening due to the very limited options available in the town but must say I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The restaurant was busy but staff were able to cope. There is a vast choice of crepes, the majority called after famous actors, making it easier to order. The beer and cider accompany the food and all in all, a pleasant night.

I visited with friends from Gouet along with a friend from England. Service was a bit slow as it was packed . Excellent food and wines but no butter for bread nor no soup. Fantastic view over river. I must to visit.

Hubby took me here for our Anniversary (28th) and we have to say it was probably the best meal ever! From start to finish, the Michellin guide recommendation was well deserved.Beautifully cooked and presented, dreamy duck (canard) and magnificent monkfish (lotte), followed by the Chef's special of 4 desserts on a plate, I mistakenly thought these would be miniscule! Hubby had to almost roll me out the restaurant after polishing off each delicious work of art ;-)Mini Quails eggs, fois mousse and creme brulee were served free of charge whilst we waited for our meals, so in all it was like a 5 course meal (or 8 in my case lol) with beautiful wine, 3 glasses, for 38 euros each! Unbelievable value and quality, will bring all our friends and guests here and can highly recommend.
