Despite the nice weather we were able to get a table. The restaurant has a nice athmosphere with friendly staff. The menu is compact with fish, meat and vegetarian dishes. There is a good wine card and our wine (Sanoma County Zinfandel) was great. This restaurant deserves to be in the top spot in Bergen!

This is hospitality perfection. A dedicated chef and a dedicated host and their team.Great food combined with great wines.Fantastic starter with goose liver, perfect intermediate course of codd with risotto of "Alkmaarse" groats and a perfect maincourse of fillet of lamb.Never a (culinairy) dull moment.

I was returning from a hard day's work in Zaandan and was willing to settle down. I was staying in a hotel nearby and walked from there to downtown looking for a nice place to eat, preferably on the seashore and ideally for seafood.A warm welcome to start with and then we exchanged some nice memories from France.Dinner was good in quality and quantity and overall was a very nice experience.

This is a seriously good restaurant in central Alkmaar. The menu is small but everything we tried was delicious, from the hard and soft goat cheese salad to the vegetables en croûte main dish and the poffertjes for desert. The host brought us a different and thoughtfully paired wine for each course and explained why he thought the wine matched the dish in question. The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed. The experience was positive from beginning to end!

A real brasserie in Holland, this is the best way to describe Rails. A low threshold restaurant serving dishes of exceptional quality. From the friendly welcome to the perfect food, Tim, the owner/chef, and his team ensure a memorable experience.We will definitely return to have the opportunity to sample more of Timâs cooking. I have never had plaice so delicately prepared and presented on a colorful palette. (see my picture). Starter and dessert were equally impressive.

If you are up for it go for the surprise menu. Really nice dishes. A small, cosy and quite environment. Unfortunately not always to crowded, especially if you come later (after 7pm) in the evening you will end up being the last guest soon (after 10pm).
