Louvain-la-Neuve (French pronunciation: [lu.vɛ̃.la.nœv], French for New Leuven) is a planned city in the municipality of Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium, situated 30 km southeast of Brussels, in the French-speaking part of the country. The city was built to house the Université Catholique de Louvain; following the linguistic quarrels that took place in Belgium during the 1960s, and Flemish claims of discrimination at the Catholic University of Leuven, the institution was split into the Dutch language Katholieke Universiteit Leuven which remained in Leuven, and the Université Catholique de Louvain.

This place is located in the middle of a business park. They offer a huge variety of hot and cold sandwiches (take away or sit down) and also main courses (pasta, brasserie food) that you can eat there. Main courses are ok, nothing great or refined about them however. Overall food prices are very reasonable, however drinks are overpriced (1,5 for a bottle of water). This place is crowded from noon onwards during business days and there is often a queue outside. Ladies preparing the sandwiches are quite nice and efficient. However, cash desk is disastrous, most of the time having only one cash desk (rarely two), which makes the queue even longer outside !!! In addition, if you decide to sit down for a main course, there is a second lane dedicated for this but still arriving at the same cash desk. This system is ridiculous and really needs to be reconsidered. If you don't wait to wait too long.

If it's 2:00 am or even later and if you are still hungry, head for the Goldway. It is a local fast-food restaurant only a few meters away from the Grand Place. The food isn't gastronomic, but it's satisfying and cheap. The owner is nice and the staff too.

I've been to plenty of noodle bars but this one's the best. Choosing my meal on a multi-lingual screen was fun, and the food came quickly. Jean Lou almost an institution in LLN... it exists for ages. Me eating there,goes back as far as 2003... i ordered take away yesterday a JEAN LOU 1 menu with fries included (price=7,6â¬). The fries are still crusty and tasty in big portion like always with my andalouse sauce favorite (huge choice of sauces) and the (double) burger is simple but excellent. True the place still looks like a small (fries) smelly little caravan but it doesn't bother me (when i take away:-).â¬7,6 is excellent price quality comparing with "classy" hamburger places in Brussels who charge almost double to have your hamburger&fries on a fancy plate. I'll surely keep on ordering here!

This place is an alternative for the regular chain fast-food restaurants or the Belgian frituur/friterie snackbars. It offers a range of burguers with delicious combinations of cheese (e.g. blue cheese), bacon, honey, etc... If presentation was better, this could fit as a "gourmet burguer restaurant" because of the quality and originality of the sandwiches. Service varies though... sometimes faster, sometimes slower. Don't expect too much anyways, this is in fact a student's place with reasonable prices. It's a decent place to have a fast-food with friends, children and even the elderly. Being in Belgium for 4 years, I haven't found a similar eatery in other cities, which is a pity for those that enjoy real burguers.

Exki is a chain and they serve affordable coffee and snacks. We had cappuccino and chocolate croissants. It is a good deal pricewise. Seated on the terrace, enjoying your coffee break.

The food is good - you have ample choices (though I'm missing chips in the burrito and extra cheese) - and it's not expensive. It would be better when the burrito is a little more crispy and warmer though. Ours got cold very quickly because most toppings weren't very hot to begin with.
