We went here for lunch on a Friday afternoon, for the first time since it used to be De Koffer. Friendly service, good drinks (including iced tea without bubbles) and an extensive lunch menu. The quality was good and everybody enjoyed their meal of typical Dutch fare.

De Treeswijkhoeve

Reviewed By Dorrith Z

Entering the Treeswijkhoeve we were warmly welcomed by mr. Middelweerd (Chief/owner).When our guest had arrived and our aperitifs were served mr. Middelweerd came to our table and, while cutting and serving a little piece of sausage bread with truffles (delicious), he informed what we would like to have for dinner and if there were any dishes or ingredients we wouldn't like or couldn't eat. Since our guest preferred to choose for à la carte instead of having a kind of surprise menu with several small dishes, we all decided to choose for à la carte.Just a few minutes after mr. Middelweerd had left, several beautiful and very special amuses were served (some on bamboo sticks). For me, being allergic to scallops and shrimps, the amuses with this ingredients were adapted. Unexpectedly fast. The gentlemen choose to have 3 variations of goose liver, I choose the lobster. Our next choice was a sole meunière and twice a pheasant (delicious old fashioned dish, you hardly can order in restaurants). After the maître/sommelier mr v.d. Kerkhof had taken our order, mr Middelweerd came again to our table. He told us that the goose liver was served in 3 courses. And since my lobster was just one course he suggested that he made 3 different courses of my lobster, so have 3 courses too and wouldn’t be just watching when the gentlemen had their 3 courses. Great, that’s what real empathizing in your guests is. The goose liver dishes as well as the variations on the lobster were outstanding. The sole was what a sole meuniere has to be and the pheasants were superb. And then mr. Middelweerd came again. This time with a little steelpan; he said; “well if you are having an old fashioned pheasant I thought some old fashioned applesauce should go with it”. Absolutely true!!After the main courses he came again asking if we would like to have any dessert. Since our guest and I decided not to, but my husband was doubting whether he would or not, mr. Middelweerd offered to make him another old fashioned dish; a Dame blanche. My husband gladly accepted the offered Dame blanche and still has sweet dreams about it.Meanwhile mr. v.d. Kerkhof did a great job: talking about what wine too choose to accompany the dishes, serving professionally, being very attentive and relaxed, being witty in a proper way. Conclusion: the Treeswijkhoeve is worth the journey, not only for the terrific food, ambiance and professionalism, but not in the least, for their perfect feeling for hospitality and empathizing in what guests would like: having a perfect evening with delicious food in a relaxed atmosphere.

Having stopped for the night at the nearby campsite we were recommended this restaurant by the reception staff. It is at the gate of the campsite and country park. There is a lovely outdoor eating area where we sat as well as the indoor restaurant itself. The mainly young waiting staff all spoke good English and were really helpful in explaining the menu and the great selection of beers on offer. There were a number of really interesting dishes in each section of the menu and we chose to go the whole hog and have a 3 course meal for 25 Euros each. This turned out to be great value although there are supplements to this for some of the selections. Each course was beautifully presented and the portions were just right. All in all highly recommended for the food, the specialist beer selection, and the lovely friendly service. Try this if you are anywhere near.

Restaurant Smaek

Reviewed By icufrans

My husband and I choose restaurant Smaek for a nice dinner. Didn't really now what to expect and were totally surprised. Because of the very nice weather all the tables were served outside in the garden. The chef serves a surprise menu only but you can choose between 3,4,5 or 6 dishes. Besides that you can tell what you don't like and you won't find that on your plate. We choose for the six course menu of course :-) Because there was no written menu I can't tell what was in every dish. But I made pics of it and that will tell you all. There wasn't a bad dish, they were all very tasteful. Three fish and two meat dishes and a desert. Little explosions of taste in your mouth and very good choices of wine to go with it. The sommelier/host told a lot (but not to much) about the different kind of wines and the reason why he chose for that particular kind of wine. I had an arrangement of wine, my husband only water. The staff was very friendly and at the end Rene, the chef, came at our table to give me a little can of his very fine olive oil I asked for. I wanted to pay for it but that wasn't necessary. Very kind of him. We payed €109 for the two six course menus and € 34,75 for the six glasses of wine. With three bottels of water and coffee with friandises the bill was €171 I think that is not expensive.Only one little thing, when we were at the hotel again we found out that they charged us 4 espresso's instead of two. Things like that can happen. But if you ever will be in Geldrop or in the neighbourhood , don't forget to visit this fabulous restaurant.

Restaurant de Zwaan is by far my most favourit restaurant, simply because it is always good enjoying the food, drinks and hospitality. True attention is given to everything that is being served. Wether it lunch or dinner, it will be served in an appealing way and most important, it always tasts great. My absolute dinner favorite is the surprise menu. No matter how often I order this (and I do order it often..:-), it always offers new dishes, new flavours and tasts to discover and I find it always delicious. Asking the host (Bert) to find a matching wine never ever has disappointed me. If it was up to me I would award restaurant de Zwaan with a Michellin star (or two..:-)

We visited this cafe couple of years back, it was really good. We have high hopes for this place again when we revisited this place. Barista on that day was OUTSTANDING! But out food was average, dont really have much choice, but just simply standard dutch breakfast and tosti. But the service staff are really friendly and attentive. What a shame to see this nice cafe not to keep up with their standard. I will give another chance when i revisit Eindhoven again one day.
