We had lunch at Chef Werner Snoek's Succulent Restaurant, and what a pleasure. Very good service, lovely airy ambiance with views onto an extraordinary succulent and cactus garden - and excellent food - cheffy without being overly cheffy, and resultantly, perfect! The starter of calamari was exceptional, the mains of beef - a retake on steak, egg and chips - was clever, loaded with flavour and a real treat. We were too full after the food, the flavourful breadroll and amuse bouche to manage desert but if the ooh-ing and ah-ing from the next table was anything to go by, then that too was very good - the chocolate and basil flavour combination certainly sounded intriguing! Loved it that Chef Werner comes out to chat to his guests, which adds a nice, friendly touch. The garden is well worth a stroll to work of some of the excellent excesses afterwards. Definitely worth a return visit.

So booked at Rosendal without reading reviews because I LOVE their wine. Arrived almost an hour late, as we got lost finding the place, signage from the main rd is not great! Unfortunately they had a power failure but were trying their best to make it comfortable and nice.I ordered the prawn and Noodle starter which was a total rip off. R85 for cold, bland prawns and noodles. My main, of seafood stew was amazing but they forgot to serve me the bread. I reminded the waitresses 3 times, but still nothing.Their saving grace is the 2 bottles of Rose Pinotage we consumed !! All in all, not sure I will dine there again.
