My family and I had the pleasure of having dinner at Chapter 1 while we were staying at the Highlander Hotel. The ambience of the restaurant can be described as "romantic elegance". The menu is carefully thought out for everyone's taste. My husband and daughter had the ox tail which was so tender that it melted off the bone. When we were checking in, I had mentioned to the owners of the hotel, who were extremely friendly and hands on, that I had not had trout since I was a young child. When we arrived for dinner I was told that a beautiful trout had been prepared especially for me! It was served fresh out of the oven, with the most delicious side dish of mushrooms and carved expertly at the table. I am sure that every other diner had food envy at that moment!It is this kind of personal, hands on service that set this restaurant and hotel apart from every other we have visited. It is a definite must!

Delicious choice of food. Sat in the warmth of the morning sun on the veranda watching the world go by.delicious breakfast muffin. Staff will make sandwiches to order if itâs not on menu Helpful and courteous staff. Lovely bakery lots of treats worth stocking up on.

Was recently in Dullstroom for 3 days for some fly-fishing and at twice at this establishment. Great staff . . . Great food . . . Great venue . . . Great prices.There are many places to choose from when visiting Dullstroom, but this is a must when traveling through this town.

We had fish. Two of us had stuffed trout, and one had kingklip.The food was awesome, service great. My stuffed trout was incredible. Veggies perfect.Coffee - excellent. Wow, what a find! Every space in this perfect little restaurant has been treated with love and care. And the food just takes it to another level! A menu that changes on a daily basis we were spoilt for choice. The presentation and explosion of texture and taste makes every mouthful an adventure - all washed down with a perfect ShirazGood to know such passion and care still exists!
