Stopped by just to browse around. This enclosed market at the foot of Lonsdale Street in North Vancouver does have some of the most unique shops. Always an interesting visit. If you are looking to purchase fresh seafood, this is the place for you.

Red Chilli

Experience... the Exquisite Cuisine and Hospitality of Szechuan.

With so many eating options in the Vancouver area we just dont get to Red Chilli often enough. On a recent sunday evening our go-to Szechuan green beans were sold out (a testament to their popularity I'm sure) so Buddhas Feast was a satisfying substitute. Prawns were large and juicy and caramelized onions in a beef selection were fought over by party members. Alcohol choices are limited despite the large display of wine bottles at the entrance. This is chinese food worth seeking out

We tried five dishes. The eggplant with beef was flawless. Not oily (at our request). The Shanghai dumplings were subgrade but I love this cuisine so I'm somewhat of an expert. The skin was too thick. The soup volume was low. Interestingly each piece was placed on and was stuck to a carrot to prevent it from sticking to the dim sum basket. The taste was so so. Looks like a factory product. The mixed vegetables from the dinner menu had no taste and used the cheapest ingredients. For $13 there was not much of a portion and there was no sign of any higher quality mushrooms, no bean sprouts, etc. The spicy prawn from the lunch menu was a disappointing sweet flavor dish with a couple dried chili. There were a total of six pieces of small - medium sized pawns. The portion was slightly small. Worst of all is that the plate had some type of additive to the generous amount of sauce included in it which left our tongues feeling dry and sandpapered! The potsticker plate was very good. It had been done right. Outside was distinctly crispy. The red vinegar should come with finely stringed ginger. We got no ginger. Management was 75% friendly. The waitress was attentive and kind. The ambience was good and comfortable. The washroom was clean. The prices were good. I give this place four stars. They can achieve a five with ease and will attract more customers.
