Tasty and affordable. Lovely atmosphere with staff that go above the call of duty. The portions are huge and the prices are very reasonable. The setting looks a bit run down, but the friendly service and the tasty huge meals make up for it. It is set in the Gables shopping centre nestled between South African franchise restaurants. I would skip any of those franchise restaurants and go directly to The Great Taipei for quality service, quality food, and local friendliness.

We are not for Chinese food really but we did enjoy this restaurant. The staff are great and know their menu. The food was good and they make a great Sushi! 4X4 and Rainbow are the hits on their Sushi menu. there is a serious Teppanyaki set up and you will need to fly somewhere like Johannesburg to find better Oysters :)

We hadn't had Chinese food in a while so we went to this place. It actually has different Asian foods as well like sushi and other Japanese foods. It was a very westernized version of Chinese food like you would find in any average Chinese Restaurant in North America. Its kinda tucked away in the mall on the second floor around the same area as the food court. When we got there, it was pretty empty but service was faster than other parts of southern Africa.
