Kaunas (/ˈkaʊnəs/; Lithuanian: [ˈkɐʊˑnɐs] ( listen); also see other names) is the second-largest city in Lithuania and has historically been a leading centre of Lithuanian economic, academic, and cultural life. Kaunas was the biggest city and the centre of a county in Trakai Municipality of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania since 1413. In the Russian Empire, it was the capital of the Kaunas Governorate from 1843 to 1915. It served as temporary capital of Lithuania during the interwar period, while the traditional capital of Vilnius was part of Poland between 1920 and 1939. During that period Kaunas has been nicknamed the Little Paris because of rich cultural and academic life, fashion, construction of countless Art Deco, Lithuanian National Romanticism architectural style buildings as well as popular furniture, interior design of the time and widespread café culture. The city interwar architecture is regarded as one of the finest examples of the European Art Deco and received the European Heritage Label, it also resulted in naming Kaunas the first city in Central and Eastern Europe as a UNESCO City of Design. In 2022, Kaunas will be the European Capital of Culture, together with the Luxembourgish city of Esch-sur-Alzette.

The atmosphere in this place, which attracts mainly young people, is dominated by the pop-video screens all over the place. If you like or don't mind this, and if the sound level happens to be moderate, Pas Stanley is a viable option for a meal or a drink. The quality of the dishes, which are nothing fancy, is quite good, and the prices affordable. Service is attentive and prompt.Not the place for a romantic dinner or a long philosophical discussion, but very satisfactory for a quick, decent meal.

Do not order salads! Otherwise other thing looked good but salads were real disappointments. Avocado was raw and dressing was bland.

The dishes seems to be âinspired by grandmaâ so it is traditional Lithuanian food but with a modern twist.We enjoyed the food and tried also the local specialty fried bread with cheese dip. Never tried that before.Price level quite modest and also some good selections of local beers

Food great value for money despite the location, and very tasty. Easy to show local value for money Staff try their best but when busy there can be quite a wait on service and food. Perhaps more staff needed on high season. Good chance to try local food.

Went here for dinner last night and it was absolutely fantastic. The setting and atmosphere is like going back to a medieval era, the staff are professional and very attentive and the food is fresh and delicious. It's lovely for a date night with real candles on every table as well as roses. Do yourself a favour and make sure you eat here when you are next in Kaunas, I would highly recommend it.

We did the brewery tour, guide's english was very good as was his explanation of beer and the brewery history as well as beer making process. The snacks were very good as was dinner afterwards. Highly recommend

Superbly prepared game dishes. Pretty good wine list. Lovely venue with a pleasant summer terrace out front on the main square.Service is friendly, but unbelievably SLOWWW. I'll say it again; the service is non-anticipatory and unresponsive. I had to get up from my seat on a few occasions to ask for service.Do come for the food, but don't expect much from the servers.

Next door to a notorious night/strip club - be aware of this when taking your significant other there. Creative yet reasonably short menu, generous alcohol servings (5cl of vodka/gin/calvados and 15cl of wine), not all wines from their rather limited wine list always available.Great friendly service, good English spoken and just the right attitude.Being good value for money Uoksas was completely full on an ordinary Wednesday night - booking in advance is a good idea.Chairs seem to be plastic covered with something "posh" - not comfy for a longer evening.They serve you a honeycomb with your (tasty herbal) tea, "honey with wax" as they put it - do not put this into your tea directly, rather enjoy your tea with honeycomb as a small side dish.

Traveling from Vilnius to seaside on Friday afternoon, to get a decent late lunch is quite a challengue. This was an unexpected and fantastic find! Very good meal, for adults and kids alike. Lovely environment with lots of green.And just a shortest detour from highway. Loved it and will definitely be back!
