Things to do in Brennero

We stopped off for a night in Sterzing and wandered off to find some food and drink. We ended up at the bar 12erl for beers. Complimentary crisps with the great tasting local beer. Good atmosphere as were others chatting away. Across the pavement they have additional seating area for daytime visitors for when it gets busy. Nice.

Had some 20' for a short break and decided to spend them in this Backerei - Cafe. Went in to choose the cake, then to took a seat on a table outside. The waitress arrives quickly, addressing me first in German and in good Italian. Got a good cappuccino and an excellent poppy-seeds strudel.

We were a group of 21 staying here on a dinner b/b basis. The breakfast was fine, the usual mix of cold meats, cheese, cereals, yogurt and breads. Our evening meals were 4 courses, starting with a selection of salads, then soups (creamy usually and rather similar) then mains either fish, meat or veggie. Quality was fine really, not top notch but country fare and somedays better than others. Puddings were lovely too.No complaints except the flies buzzing round were a nuisance but you get that in the country.

we serve good old traditional Austrian Food but also delicious Pizzas in a nice Restaurant in the middle of the Wipptal valley between Innsbruck and Brenner
Was actually looking for another place when passed by Platzl a few times. It didn't look inviting from the outside. The first room entering is nice all though people are allowed to smoke. Next room looks more like a bar but then there is a third room - A non smoking room! Very nice Austrian style with only a few people. We all ordered different kind of "Schnitzel" and it was all delivered within 10min after ordering. The Wiener Schnitzel is on the large size - even kids schnitzel was huge for a 6 year old. All tasted good, great beers too.

It is easy to overlook this place as it is located inside the Brennero Outlet Center, in a coner on the ground floor, but if you are looking for a nice Italian lunch or light dinner, try this place. The pizzas we had were quite large and my wife and daughter couldnât finish theirs. The place is busy and not what I would call a cosy place, but it is nice, light and open, with fast service. We will come again next time traveling through the Brenner pass from Austria to Italy.
