A small restaurant/bar beside the sea wall with excellent happy hour specials, far superior to most places in town. As for the food, maybe the best burger Iâve had in my life? Best in town at least which is a big statement as there is no shortage of good eats in Montanita.Great staff and a waiter that speaks English, most of the times I stopped by.

Well perhaps not quite in the clouds but this rooftop restaurant above Rincon D'Olon Hotel offers stunning 360 degree views of the coast in front and the hills behind. In the immortal words of John Lennon "above us only sky". The vista at sunset has to be seen to be believed and when that fiery ball does disappear the ever changing sky over the sea will keep you watching for as long as you stay. And as if that is not enough the food is pretty good too! I was there a few nights ago and enjoyed what I can honestly say was one of the best meals I've had during my three months in Ecuador. The fish was cooked to perfection and melted in the mouth, the accompanying vegetables were complimented by a delicious light curry sauce and the fresh crispy French fries left me wanting to do it all again. Which I did the following night. Highly recommended.

Several gnomes grace the inside of Mi Cotinga, watching over her guests. This tiny clean restaurant has a modern yet old-world European feel. The food is delicious and the service is great (very personal). Iâve never had cheese soup before, but if you go, you must try it. My avocado and cheese panini was simply delicious, and my dining companions raved about their food as well. They serve craft beer (branded in their name), as well as their own brands of Ecuadorian coffee. This place looked nice so went in for coffee. It was $2.75 for a flat white so I expected it to be good however unfortunately it was horrible. I could make a better instant coffee. Ate here a couple times during my stay in Olon, the owner/Chef is a great guy who really knows how to cook! The burgers and wraps were delicious! and the beer too of course. One of the finest places in town. Happy hour starts at 4pm with cocktails worth 4 times the price in any other country, personally the best drinks in 2 months of roving South America in search of a decent martini-which Lido does not make.However, the $9 burgers including a mojito should make this a destination on a Tuesday night if not for any other delicious item off the grill. Vegetables you ask? They have those too, which are as rare as a good martini...
