We went to Buffelsfontein again over the weekend in January with a bit of trepidation, our previous visit was memorable for the wrong reasons. (I wrote a previous review)We were again a bunch of friends who were catching up after the December break. This time round my wife and I order the burgers. I had the house speciality and my wife had the chicken burger. Both were very good. I asked for med and got medium on my patty, the chicken burger is good value for money as it is rather large and also a very good burger. The other guest ordered the meat platters and the size of the platters were large and the ribs were the hit of the day. The steak was again slightly over for my liking but to be fair they might of ordered it that way when no one was looking.The service was again excellent, our waitress was on the ball with the orders and what we wanted, Buffelsfontein is predominantly Afrikaans, but she was well versed in English and managed the table well. The atmosphere was good and very amicable.My only complaint is that the cost of the drinks is very high, We had 3 drinks each with our meal and that made up over 2/3rds of the bill and they were draught beer, local wine and a Gin and Tonic (as in the the basic gin) This always leaves a sour aftertaste as a quick burger and drinks with mates turns out to be the same cost as going out for a 'steak dinner' on date night. But over all they did redeem themselves and can recommend their burgers and ribs.

I had the steak opening special which was excellent value for money but a bit tough even though it was correctly done. The venue is great and very big with a nice kids area. The service was excellent with a waiter and trainee waiter doing their job correctly. Still very quiet but will get busier when it becomes better known!

The menu for senior citizens does not have an option of fillet. This is supposed to be the softest meat and for senior citizens the most easy to eat, yet it does not appear on the menu. Yes it may cost a bit more, but then the senior citizen can decide.Furthermore the normal customer is not told about the senior menu.

With a large open air wood smoker standing outside the restaurant, I expected smoked meats like pulled pork shoulder, smokey steaks and burgers and ribs. This is exactly what you get, including a large range of craft beers. I have eaten there three times and enjoyed it, but the food tends to be single dimension. There is no finesse. Do not go there in the evenings, it turns into a very loud student drinking joint.Hi Anton Thank you for your review and sharing your point of view. Came here to eat with a small child and the food took ages. It wasnât even that busy either. A waiter came up to us at one point and said the food would be 4-5 minutes. Ten minutes later we were still waiting.The waiter was friendly and apologetic. Food was amazing as usual, am from the UK and Spur is my favourite place to eat when I visit SA. After the initial let-down, had a more-than-reasonable T-bone steak. Would rather have appreciated it if the host suggested an alternative option seeing that they seemingly ran out of rib-eye the day before. Dropped in for (a late'ish) lunch, rather by accident, because we just happened to be in the mall at that time. But no regrets whatsoever.
