We had the $24.99 dinner buffet. Waited 1 hour 15 minutes at about 5:30 pm Saturday. Service and sides were very good. Different beef selections were all tough and some sinewy and grisly. Baby squid and shrimp were fresh, but shrimp were small. Very loud.

Leadbellys Barbecue

We chose Leadbellys cause we wanted BBQ and someplace close to where we were staying. Having no preconceived notions we hopped over and found its spot in one of the thousands of ubiquitous strip malls in SoCal. The first thing you are struck with is the potpourri of "things" that decorate the place. It's more old vibe and it works. They make great use of a sideboard and have items up on the walls. We were doing take-out but while we waited for our food you can't help but take in the decor. We opted for the 3-choice smoked meat platter that come with some sides. Our choices were the ribs, brisket and chicken. The ribs and brisket were very good whereas the chicken was too dry for our liking. Corn bread and slaw were our sides and we liked them. Since we were doing take-out our interaction with the staff was minimal so there are no negatives there. We also went early PM so we knew there wouldn't be any crowds yet. If we are back in the area and have a hankering for BBQ we'll definitely remember Leadbellys.

Gen Korean BBQ House

This spot on Harbor and Orangethorpe has been where restaurants go to die. Formerly a very empty Tony Roma's, there were a couple of short-lived ventures afterward that were not worth noting. We've been to other Gen locations and had good quality meat for a fair price. There is plenty of parking. We arrived on a Monday night before 5 pm. Packed! Well-ventilated! Good service! What is going ON?Chap chae was so-so. No steamed egg. But nearly everything else is included on this all-you-can-eat-in-two-hours menu. This includes a panoply of meat, meat and um... more meat! Our favorite was the kalbi. A close second was the premium thick-cut steak. They also had calamari, shrimp, gyoza and various Korean soups. There were many families of various ethnicities and this is an unintimidating place to try everything. Although you do grill the food yourself, it is pretty foolproof and the servers seemed quite attentive and willing to help. This is a great family place, very festive and clean. Not maybe a fave for the vegetarians in the group but we gave it two hearty thumbs up! Enjoy!

Mad Wolf Mongolian Barbecue

Reviewed By TravelingFamily714

Mad Wolf is one of our longtime favorite restaurants. As another reviewer said, it definitely fits the "hole in the wall" category: a tiny place with pink walls, red booths, and an aquarium in one corner. But the Mongolian BBQ is always good, and so are their delicious little sesame pocket breads. As is usual with Mongolian BBQ, you fill your bowl with raw vegetables and meats (if you're vegetarian you can request tofu instead), add your choice of sauces, and hand it to the chef who grills it in front of you. As an update to older reviews: they do now offer minced garlic and sesame oil along with the usual sauces, as well as roasted sesame seeds to sprinkle on top of your dish. There are other Chinese dishes on the menu, but we have never ventured into those, because the Mongolian BBQ is delicious - and flexible enough to suit everyone's tastes. If you visit during peak times (especially weekend evenings), the line sometimes gets backed up, and you may have to wait a while for your food to be cooked. This is a family run place, with good family atmosphere and many repeat customers who (like us) have been going there for years.

Don't be fooled by the small storefront and limited seating... This is some of the best barbeque you will find in the OC. Big B's is a favorite "take-out" location of the locals, and a popular spot with students from Cal State Fullerton. While you are waiting for your order, (which is always prepared fresh), step next door for a schooner of beer at Brian's Pub...
