I've eaten in many of Georgia's Q joints and they are mostly very average. There is a tendency toward soggy pork so you don't really taste the pork. The meat is saturated in sauce. That's how it's served here. So if you don't care for the sauce you are out of luck. I much prefer properly smoked pork that is moist with no sauce added. If it's really cooked properly it needs no sauce or very little. Sauce should accent the meat using some acidity. Georgia's claim to fame is Brunswick Stew and you will find many variations of it across the state. When it comes to good Q it is hard to find.

Living in Colorado it's hard to find good BBQ, but when we visited Barnesville again I had to stop by and enjoy some good pulled pork. The meat was cooked to perfection and the service was great. Can't wait for another visit so I can go back.
