I was walking around Barcelona with my sister and we came across this bar by accident. It's lovely,we had a few beers and the owner came to chat with us. He was a lovely man,very interested and obviously passionate about his business. He offered us a desert which was gorgeous! All the food we saw coming out of the kitchen looked amazing, beautiful presentation not expensive. There is a small jungle themed bar inside which is wonderful, the owner made the whole thing himself. There is also an outside area too.I would highly recommend this place for food or just a drink.

Wasnât expecting a lot considering based on my experience with beach shack eateries but didnât even get a chance to try. Most likely a combination of the fact that Iâm a minority, female and traveling solo but I was not allowed to sit at one of the beach facing tables although there were 5 empty tables, the bar tender told me I could sit wherever I would like and I specifically mentioned I intended to order food and drinks. With such poor service even before I looked at the menu, I didnât bother patron. Went to a more friendly and accommodating restaurant nearby.We are sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with our staff, what we can assure you is that the fact that you were a woman had nothing to do, we are a group committed to respecting and supporting women, especially those who travel alone. We had a drink here and it turned out to be such a pleasant experience. The place makes really good cocktails using lab equipment and their own infusions displayed all over the bar. (Our suggestion was that the place should be named The Lab instead of The Box.) Most of all, the bartenders were super nice, very friendly and engaging, not to mention they really know their stuff. We had a great evening here. Awesome! Thank you for the nice words. We are glad you loved the visit!

There are loads of beach bars in Barceloneta and most are over-priced tourist traps, something that cannot be said about this place. You expect to pay a premium, and the tapas are a touch on the pricey side, but the service is great and it is lovely to sit by the beach and enjoy a sundowner. Food was basic but very good. Best BLT we had ever tasted. Great cocktails and very friendly staff. We would have given this a 5 star but the croquets were the only thing that let this place down (worst in the 2 weeks weâve been in Spain).Thank you very much for taking the time to value our food and our staff, it is a pleasure to receive customers as attentive as you. We had a wonderful dinner at Lokal! Adriana & Alex were incredibly welcoming and friendly, going out of their way to make our dinner special. Not being locals we selected the standard meal options (burgers & pastas) and Alex - who is also a great sommelier - guided our decisions, and we were incredibly glad that we went with his suggestions! The salmon tartar my wife went with was incredible, she's still talking about it weeks later. I had the beef tagliata with with the burnt rosemary (which is an awesome show, flame torched at the table) and it was amazing. Such a unique dish with great flavour. Lokal delivers the overall experience: friendly service, great ambience, great food and great people. We can't wait to go back on our next visit to Barcelona!

Located in the Gothic District of Barcelona, this small restaurant/bar is a real gem. Kenny, the lead bartender and apparent manager, is a delightfully engaging young man from Venezuela who has put together an incredibly diverse & imaginative menu of cocktails ... and based on a sample of three each by my wife and I, all excellent (extensive use of exotic spices, fine rums, tequilas and gins, etc.). The description of the food in other reviews did not, to me, give it sufficiently high marks. We thought the mixed seafood ceviche was among the best we have ever tasted, unusual in its use of a sweet-spicy, tomato-based broth. The pulled pork empanada and pulled chicken pastry (have forgotten its Caribbean name) were also excellent. Service was very friendly and helpful.
