Yet again another fabulous Sunday late lunch at the Kings. Although Charlie had left for the day his staff did not let him down. All staff where friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Food was superb as was the service. Popped in for tea and cake. Asked what type of cake was on offer as none listed. The waiter was extremely helpful and came back and told us what was available. Pecan bread and butter pudding was chosen by my husband and I. My son chose Bailey's Cheesecake. Shortly after our order was taken we were informed that there was no pecan bread and butter pudding left. We could however have the maple and walnut icecream it would have been served with. We asked if we could have the icecream with the Bailey's Cheesecake. The waiter said this had not been requested before but he would do this. The food was extremely delicious. However the cost of 2 teas, coffee, 3 cheesecake and icecream was £39.

Visited early on a Sunday evening in August. We were a bit worried as the Nelson wasnât too busy! However,food was excellent....roasts especially! Nice selection of beers and wines. Desserts to die for. The welcome that we received was very good and were made to feel like locals. Well worth a visit.

Wonderful vegan menu and amazing friendly staff. Been here a few times for a bite to eat or drink and always had a nice lunch. The best drink is the pina colada mocktail called 'Virgin Mango Colada' which is vegan and tastes incredible! I havent been able to have one since being lactose intolerent/choosing a vegan lifestyle and its such a wonderful treat! The beyond burger is amazing too! Cakes are ok but nothing too exciting. Was on holiday in the area and decided to book the Amberwood for Sunday evening dinner and certainly wasnât disappointed. Very friendly and efficient staff took our drinks order very quickly and despite it being fairly busy didnât wait ages for the food either. Would highly recommend the roast turkey. Great place and will definitely come back when visiting the area.

We were lucky to get a table - on a miserable wet Friday lunchtime, the place was heaving. However, we did get one, and it was worth it.My starter of prawn and crayfish cocktail was so big they served it in a soup plate, but i managed to get through that, as it was lovely. I hardly needed a main course after that, but my chicken was delicious and I was sorry to have to leave some of itThe service was good, and the views across the Avon water meadows must be lovely on a sunny day.Next time I shall order something smaller!

First time at the Captains club in a few years. Whilst we came off the river, we initially were met by unwelcoming parking signs which appear to be new and similar to a budget hotel. The place was fairly quiet and took a while to be served phenomenally expensive drinks. Whilst the river views and the bar is nice we decided to go further along the river to eat as there was a mismatch between pricing, service etc.Thank you for your review and naturally I am disappointed at your feedback. You will see from a range of reviews on this site that the service is generally very well received as is the quality of the food therefore we wish you had stayed and ate with us. I also genuinely believe we offer very good value for money and keep our prices extremely competitive considering the standard of service we deliver and the quality of ingredients we use.Car park charges were introduced over a month ago and has been well received as genuine Captain's Club visitors can park on site rather than being forced to use the shoulder pay and display car parks when our own car park was being used as a "free" town centre car park for others making use of the town, river and other dining establishments. On a personal note I do hope that you will consider a return to the hotel as we would love for you to experience our usual offering and I can only apologise that this was not the case for your recent visit. In the meantime I send you my very best wishes.

We had a drink in this glitzy pub in an historic part Christchurch.First time I stayed in Christchurch for many years .Visited toilet before I left the soho and was shocked to see such crass and demeaning pictures of women on the wall ......made me wonder what type of person is managing this place !

Went with friends for an evening meal . It was busy with a great atmosphere. We all had different dishes and they were all great . The service considering how busy they were was really good .Unfortunately one totally obnoxious customer started shouting and ranting at the top of her voice . The member of staff dealt with it brilliantly and we all felt sorry for him having to deal with such appalling behaviour.Any way we left very happy and will return .

Had a lovely pub lunch here today. Atmosphere in the pub was quite cosy, my husband had the scampi lunch menu and I had a burger - tasty food nicely presented and reasonably priced. Biggest problem was parking - 30 minutes only if parked outside but we did just manage it. I would come back here again.
