Find out what Bar restaurants to try in Armagh. Armagh (/ɑːrˈmɑː/ ar-MAH; from Irish Ard Mhacha /ɑɾd̪ˠˈwaxə/, meaning 'Macha's height') is the county town of County Armagh and a city in Northern Ireland, as well as a civil parish. It is the ecclesiastical capital of Ireland – the seat of the Archbishops of Armagh, the Primates of All Ireland for both the Roman Catholic Church and the Church of Ireland. In ancient times, nearby Navan Fort (Eamhain Mhacha) was a pagan ceremonial site and one of the great royal capitals of Gaelic Ireland. Today, Armagh is home to two cathedrals (both named after Saint Patrick) and the Armagh Observatory, and is known for its Georgian architecture.

Groucho's On The Square

Reviewed By tankywalk

Called in after visiting the apple blossom orchards in the area. Wanted to get a Sunday lunch. Plenty of choice on the menu, including specials. Service was First Class and the staff extremely helpful and pleasant. My wife had the Sunday roast, which was roast beef with all the trimmings. She stated that it was the best beef she had ever tasted in her life.I went for the County Armagh pork, with cheese stuffing, and mixed vegetables. Again a lovely, well presented meal.It is a bar on the square, plenty of parking outside and nearby. the decor is olden type with old pieces of nostalgia dotted around. The walls are a bit off putting, as very badly stained yellow, obviously from the smoking days, and this can still be smelt at times. The toilets would need upgraded. There is an outside Beer Garden? with a rooftop area as well, live music here on occasions. The outside area would need a serious update, very untidy and benches/tables would need re varnishing.Apart from this, it seems to be a very popular location, plenty having a drink and meals. The meals were First Class and would return again, but work would need to be done on the above mentioned points.

We visited Toni's after a trip to the planetarium for lunch. The menu was extensive and had something for everyone. I had the steak sandwich which was amazing. Wish Toni's was closer as we live near Belfast as we would definitely return time and time again.

Armagh City hotel

This hotel has an excellent location just a few minutes walk to the city centre. Plenty of car parking space. The family room was spacious and clean and had everything we required. The swimming pool and spa area is satisfactory if rather dated. Swimming caps are required and can be bought at the pool. Breakfast is self service with a good selection of hot and cold items.
