The Blackthorn Cafe

The friendly greeting was only the beginning and the first impressions did not disappoint. We both had the pulled pork and eggs Benedict which we thoroughly enjoyed. Slightly on the sweet side but nevertheless very tasty & nicely presented. Pity we have plans for tomorrow’s brekkie otherwise we would return!

Forget 100 miles, at Heronswood it's just 100 metres from our garden fork in the kitchen garden, to your table fork in the restaurant. The seasonal menu changes regularly, depending on what has been harvested in our organically certified garden. Celebrate

A lovely family meal here. The views over the gardens were beautiful and the service was prompt and friendly but not over imposing. We ordered various dishes - vegetable plate, pumpkin pie and a chicken and vegetable plate. Absolutely delicious food and so filling. Wouldn’t hesitate to come back again.

L'Aqua

A 3.2 rating pretty much nails it. L’Aqua is good sized modern cafe that goes back quite a way. Great to see the folding window doors on the street for those really balmy days and nights. Good also to see our tables on the street itself. My morning coffee here was pretty good. Strong, robust and flavoursome. Among the best I’ve had in the area. Service was polite and efficient too. I liked the look of the food menu as well. I’d happily return going by this experience.

Our visit to Trofeo for lunch was fantastic. We had a bit of wine tasting first to enable us to select a wine to have with our lunch. The terracotta fermented Chardonnay was so good. I usually drink SavBlanc so this was a surprise for me. There were 4 of us and we had a lovely round table with really comfy chairs. The food was delicious and not too expensive. The only downside was the lack of service once we had finished our main course. We eventually decided to sit outside and have coffee. However we had to chase a waiter for us to order the coffee. The service for our food delivery once ordered, was prompt and professional. The grounds are peaceful and scenic with a tree that children were able to climb plus a dam with ducks and sheep. We look forward to a return visit.

We dined here on sat night with school friends celebrating our 50 th’s . Perrin was wonderful and gave us a complimentary round of shots to celebrate . She was friendly , knowledgeable of the menu and attentive to our needs . The food was amazing . We had tapas , calamari , saganaki , sliders to name a few. Prices reasonable . The ambience is buzzing and it’s right on the water so would be great in day too . Give it a try as you won’t be disappointed .

Several choices of something quite different for breakfast. We chose to share chili scrambled eggs with three cheeses and radish flakes, and their special for that day of mushrooms with Gorgonzola. Both were great. These are high class dishes each lovingly produced, so they might take a little longer than the more traditional fare.Prices are very reasonable, you could have the scrambled eggs described above and a cup of coffee for $20. Haven’t tried lunch but can also say that the dinner menu is excellent, and for a special treat try the chefs degustation. Prices very reasonable for the quality.

Stillwater at Crittenden

Having enjoyed dining experiences at Hentley Farm in the Barossa Valley and Brown Brothers Epicurean Centre in King Valley we were looking forward to our lunch at Silverwater at Crittenden. This restaurant has to be kidding itself with a two course price of $65 and $80 for three courses which in our case was "Pan roasted, truffle scented gnocchi, tuscan cabbage, basil & goats curd" for my wife followed by desert which was "Honey and hazelnut pudding, praline & chocolate ice cream, honeycomb". This cost $65 and I extended my choice to $80 by including a side which was "Caprese salad of heirloom tomatoes, torn buffalo mozerrella & white balsamic" We dined with two friends who had actually chosen this restaurant and we were all still hungry after the meal.Sorry, but this is not an experience I will look back on with any WOW factor, most underwelming.
