We were attending Dr. McDougall’s Residential program nearby and a whole food plant based menu was arranged for us, and we couldn’t have been more pleased with the dishes that were served. We started out with corn soup and veggie sushi followed by a variety of Asian dishes. Everything turned out great and there was no meat, fish, dairy or any kind of oil included in any offering.

I have been eating here from the time they opened, many years ago. The lunch specials of the day are fast and very tasty. Before I retired I ate lunch here every week! Therefore lunch specials of the day. Three dishes and others to sub if wanted. I especially love their green curry with chicken, eggplant with basil and black bean sauce and pad Thai. Many lunches and dinners here through the years...never disappointed!

Stopped in for lunch while running weekend chores. Food is tasty but has been dumbed down. Add the condiments on the table and you are back to speed. Big portions. Service is pleasant but a bit slow. Wine list needs a floral/spicy addition like Gewurztraminer or Riesling to compliment the food. Certainly would come again.

Royal China Restaurant

For over eighteen years I have enjoyed Royal China Chinese Restaurant tucked away in a shopping center on Marlow and Pine roads in Santa Rosa.A couple of years ago the restaurant expanded and redecorated going from over the top "Bad Taste" Rococo Ornate" to contemporary clean minimalist interior with a more sophisticated attitude as opposed to the former casual. My last reviews since the renovation were mixed based on my individual menu selections, but not bad enough that I would not recommend going there. However, on my recent visit with friends, we were all disappointed in the food. Really too bad, because Royal China was the only remaining good Chinese restaurant in Santa Rosa. This recent visit is unfortunate as I will not go back.My conclusion is that this wildly popular restaurant is successful because it is reasonably priced, they give large portions, it has a very comfortable interior and very good service. It is also very family friendly so there are lots of families with children which makes sense because it's affordable for a family. However, I think that the chef redesigned the menu to cater to the local family clientele, and in the process gave up a lot of the traditional flavors and preparation methods. All of the spicy marked selections on the menu were bland and tasteless with the slightest hint of heat. General Tao Chicken bore no resemblance to the traditional recipe. It had lots of doughy deep fried chicken strips with a bland barely moist white sauce. The pot stickers were wrapped in a very doughy thick wanton, The very pricy Basil scallops were in a very salty wine sauce and the scallops were overcooked and dry, The curry prawns again were bland. So if you are looking for well prepared authentic Chinese cooking and true flavors, Royal China is not the place to go. However, if you are on a budget or have a family to feed, and are not concerned about authenticity or flavor, then by all means this is a good choice.

Mark and I dined here one night while visiting Santa Rosa. It was the best discovery of a Chinese restaurant we have made since visiting China last year. Unfortunately, no restaurant in San Diego comes close to the quality. We had the spicy fish dish - flounder. It was unbelievably succulent. We also had the dumplings and steamed Shanghai dumplings. So flavorful and delicious. So many different dishes to try and just not enough time for us. Would definitely come back when in Santa Rosa!

Since I work nearby, co-workers and I often have lunch at Goji. What a treat it is to come here!First off, there is ample parking in the lot, but it gets a bit jammed up during lunch hours. Easy to get inside and navigate if in a wheelchair. There is also outdoor seating, but borders on the parking area. Inside, it is a calm and beautiful oasis in which to eat fabulous food. Well decorated and serene. Servers are efficient, but not overly friendly, and they are helpful if you have questions about food items. I love the menu, which has abundant choices, and very user friendly if you are vegan, vegetarian, or gluten free. Many items are organic, and because of this, prices can be a bit higher than the norm. But so worth it!I am hooked on R5, which is tofu and mixed veggies. Sounds dull, but it is fabulous! The tofu is well glazed, and veggies (zucchini, bell peppers, broccoli, onions, asparagus, baby carrots) are stir fried to perfection and not greasy. Veggies are crisp/tender and the sauce is delicious. It is served with white rice, brown rice is an extra charge. Then you get a slice of chilled watermelon, and a fortune cookie. The R5 is about $11.25, most dishes between $11-14.00. But you really get what you pay for. The bathrooms are spotless, lovely, and well maintained. If you are Santa Rosa near the Junior College, be sure to stop in and give it a try. Really delicious, high quality food in a lovely setting.

Khoom Lanna has become one of our favorite Thai restaurants. Along "restaurant row" on 4th Street in Old Railroad Square, just steps from the SMART train station, it's a nicely decorated space with very friendly and efficient service by the family who owns it. I think they serve some of the best chicken satay I've ever had. I'm also a fan of the diced chicken lettuce wraps and the spring rolls. My husband likes the beef salad. We both like the Thai iced coffee. The menu offers lots of new things to try and we seem to go there so often we'll no doubt work through all of it eventually.

Six of us came here from a personal recommendation and it was an outstanding dinner. Cuisine is Himalayan which is essentially Indian. The food was slow to come out but worth the wait. The waitstaff was very attentive, refilling beverages often. The Olive Basil Naan was delicious. Each dinner was fantastic. The mixed grill tandoori had a variety of fish, shrimp, chicken, and lamb tandoori and was much more than I could eat. It could easily have been shared. The Chicken Korma was probably the best dish of all. Rice is ordered separately and can be shared. The ambiance is perfect for almost any gathering, with windows all around the restaurant. There is a full bar and good wine list by bottle or glass. This was a good find.

I met my girlfriend here for lunch today and we sat outside on the patio. She ordered yellow curry with chicken and brown rice and I ordered the mixed green salad with chicken. This was not your ordinary mixed green! It was served in a wooden bowl with fresh romaine, toasted cashews, avocado and green apple slices, chicken cooked to perfection and sprinkled with the best goat cheese I've ever tasted. The lime dressing brought this dish to another level. The staff was welcoming and efficient. Highly recommend!
