Don't be fooled by the exterior of this place, step inside and treat your taste-buds to the well presented cuisine that is offered by Madame Truong-Dinh. Authentic Vietnamese and Thai fare await you!The interior may not be the most pleasant of surroundings and more reminiscent of your typical Swiss after-work bar-cafe than a good restaurant. But where Lion d'Or lacks in appearance it more than makes up for in taste. Our hostess, Madame Truong-Dinh was happy to receive our instructions that we liked our food "as-it-should-be-spicy" and we weren't disappointed. we enjoyed the green curry and the sweet & sour pork, both of which knocked our socks off, we were happily impressed by the tasty food.I wouldn't call this place my first choice location for going out and having an evening with friends in great ambiance and atmosphere but definitely well worth a try to experience the food and most definitely a great place to order take-away to enjoy at home.

A good discovery and on the whole the food was excellent and the service highly efficient. Pleasant dining room with fresh flowers. On the positive side, the main courses were delicious - excellent flavours and far from bland. The crispy beef was superb, the prawns with Thai basil also, and the chicken with cashews nicely spicy. Definitely way above average European offerings.On the negative side, however: the wine prices were very, very high. Also - we had a set menu - the so-called "Japanese salad" was a couple of leaves of lettuce with one crab stick. Hmmm. The starter was a selection of samosa, crispy ravioli and crab toast and just OK, but decorated with an orchid (as were several of the other dishes).This is perhaps just me, but I would have preferred to do away with the orchids and have a slightly more interesting salad, or even some more reasonable wine options.
