Athens Pizza Family Resturant

Returned to this place after 5+ years of not being in the area on an early Friday afternoon. The place was empty, which should have been our first clue.We got our go-to favorites, a special and chick/bacon/ranch. They were okay but no where near as much toppings as in the past. Just enough to say it had everything on the special. Both were so salty you could barely taste the toppings. Prices were average. The dining room is in dire need of repair and/or upgrading. Tables and seats were worn and dirty. The carpet, well, I wonder when it was last cleaned. Dusty too. The mens bathroom was absolutely disgusting. Unclean, smoke stained, filthy.I would assume volume and little competion are the main reasons for the lack of improvements.

My boyfriend and I stopped here for lunch while I was mentally travelling down memory lane. My grandfather took my sister and I to this place throughout our childhood trips through VT/NH/MA. The food was just as tasty as always, great portions, affordable and staff was super friendly. Felt like locals.

Other than poorly done pizza, this was the only option in town on the night we chose to go. The setting is beautiful and simple, located in an old historical hotel. Only three tables were filled, so the ambience was quiet and nice, as my friend and I were there to catch up after a long time of not seeing each other. The service was prompt and the woman who seated us was friendly and full of smiles. Our waitress on the other hand never smiled once and looked really unhappy to be there. The food was a little disappointing. I had the mushroom and pea risotto. This dish really lacked flavor other than a very sharp and dry Parmesan cheese taste. The mushroom flavor was undetectable which was sad because that was the part I was looking forward to. My friend had the gnocchi, Which had a beautiful and flavorful mushroom sauce over it but the gnocchi was gummy and not good according to her. For dessert we had panna cotta with a fresh strawberry purée drizzle over it, which was outstanding!

After a long day of hiking out in the cold we stopped in here for a hot chocolate. I know what you’re thinking...hot chocolate? Seriously? But yes, this particular hot chocolate changed my life. It’s like a liquid candy bar and the answers to all life’s questions in what appears to be a simple drink. There are a few moments in life that are benchmarks for your existence...moments so memorable that they are markers for events that change our lives...like the moment your first child is born, getting married (or divorced), retiring, or saving someone life...but the hot chocolate here trumps them all. I am a better person having experienced this joy.

My husband and I use to bring our boys here all the time when they were little and we lived in the area. When we are back visiting we always make sure to stop in and have lunch. I use to get the chicken finger dinner. My husband the double cheeseburger, then sometimes our 3 boys would split a pizza and fries or if we were really treating we would let them order whatever they wanted. We always left full and very satisfied! Cute Lil tid bit: My oldest son (23 in Sept), when he was around, I'll say around 12. Well one of the waitresses was really cute and my son was always the Lil ladies man, so he walked back up to the counter and says really cute "Excuse me, I don't mean to be rude or disrespectful, but you are really beautiful." The girl was probably around 16 maybe 17. Well let me tell you both of their faces were so red it made the tomatoes look pink. Lol She had a huge smile on her face and when he turned around it looked like he was gonna bust, his face was so pink. It was so cute I wish I had a camera with me at the time. The things we remember just simply by writing a review about a Pizza Place. Talk about memory lane.

Lots of choices for breakast - (egg sandwiches, etc), salads, sandwiches, pizza, full deli. Made in house! Some items made earlier in the day so you can get back on the road or made to order for you. Cider donuts, fresh breads, pies & cookies from their bakery. Maple bacon potato chips are my favorite! Fresh cider in season. Nursery and garden stand in season.

Bellows Walpole Inn Pub

A group of us visited the pub for dinner in mid-August expecting a great bartender (Bobby is fun, friendly, efficient and offers great hospitality and creative concoctions) and a lovely environment. What we were not expecting was to be wowed by the food. Over the past couple of years, chefs have come and gone and the food has been inconsistent. We were all pleasantly surprised! The current Chef is outstanding! We were all very pleased with our dinners which included almost all the items on the menu (lamb chops, risotto, burgers, and fish tacos). We all agreed that the pub would be back on our list of “ goto” places!

Stopped in for lunch on a Saturday. Two adults and one picky teen. Place spotless, comfortable and has a modern country vide. The women with glasses at the counter/bar was super nice and personable. Our teenage waitress was friendly and checked in with us at the right time and didn’t hover over us.We ordered 3 sandwiches:• miso chicken• pork and pineapple • chicken cordon blueAll were a great portion that included fresh cut fried and homemade dill pickles. All good.Only suggest would fried crispier. If I could I would of gave this restaurant a 4.5. Crispier fries and it would of been a perfect 5.
