Small town feel with great BBQ, friendly service and equipped with a full bar and patio. Great for kids, back yard horse shoe pits, a stage for live music.

We are two senior couples traveling in Colorado to see fall foliage. When looking for a restaurant in Trinidad, it seemed all of our original choices were closed (Tuesday). We settled on the Trinidad Smokehouse because it was open. Lucky for us because the food was great. The service matched the food. Three of us decided on the cod. Though the cod was cooked in oil, there was not a hint of oil in the finished product. The sweet potato fries were also very good. All in all, very good food at a reasonable price.

We read the reviews before going. We had to ask ourselves if we had the right place when we drove up. It is in a rundown, clapped out motel. Trying not to judge a book by its cover, we went in. The inside is just as run down. The girl behind the counter was pleasant enough but the the girl in the kitchen was more into her facebook page. We didn't smell any fresh BBQ cooking which leads us to believe that everything is reheated. The food came out and was edible. I am not sure where the other reviewers went but it couldnt possible be the same place. .Sorry about your experience with us. I can assure you everything here is fresh smoked everyday. All our sides are homemade as well. And the girl in the back was reviving a order through text from me the owner for another local business I apologize for that. Your the first person to not rave about the food and I do ask if you give us another shot to say for me Nick the owner I would love to change your mind about us and YES it's on me. As far as the building I'm over a hundred thousand dollars in and still improving everyday it just don't happen overnight but will see a big improvement over the next couple months. Sincerely my apologies Nick.

Purple Toad Social Tap & Grill

So, to start off with, we're big brewery and pub people. We like places with a wide variety of draft beers, an interesting atmosphere and simple but good food. Well, there's just not much of that sort of thing in Trinidad. The Purple Toad seemed to be the closest to what we were looking for on our overnight stay in Trinidad. The Toad is located in a warehousy building near the Interstate. It’s open with several rooms with tables scattered about and an outside patio. Off to one side is a bar with stools. Our server was pleasant. Service was adequate by not engaging nor overly attentive. They weren't busy so I would have hoped for prompter service. But was fine.Their beer selection wasn't as broad as I would have anticipated. And the server didn't know if they had chardonnay or not. This could use some improvement. My wife and I shared their fish and chips and got a side salad to augment it. The salad was quite good with varied greens on a large plate. Enough to share. The fish was good. Three pieces. Nicely breaded and fried. The fries (chips) were crisp and tasty. A nice dinner.Might want to search deeper next time for someplace with more interest.

Located in a nondescript building on East Main, Tony’s offers some really good southwestern style food. We opted for the “breakfast all day” selections and the traditional breakfast and the breakfast burrito combos were awesome. A slight mixup on our orders but the staff was very apologetic and fixed the problem right away. They’ll make everything as spicy or regular as you want. A must stop in Trinidad!

If we hadn't had a gps on our road trip, we never would have found this place but we're glad that we did. This cafe isn't fancy or frilly but it offers good, hearty, home made meals. It was definitely a neighborhood hang out and that gave it a warm feeling. The breakfast food was ample and delicious. Great omelettes. The biscuits were particularly tasty. Our servers were the absolute nicest that we have ever encountered...anywhere. They seemed genuinely concerned about our happiness. They kept the coffee and tea coming. We were shocked when we got our bill because it was so low. We are used to paying city prices at restaurants and for all that we got here the bill only came to $21!! We loved this entire experience.

My husband and I were going to Denver for a few days and we stopped here for lunch. It's located in downtown Trinidad and there's a parking lot at Commercial and Elm area, about a block walk. There is seating inside and outside. It's a small place, but the food is very good. I got the chicken salad sandwich and my husband got the pastrami reuben panini, both came with chips and a pickle spear. I think the chicken salad had a basil pesto in it. The panini came with a 1000 island dressing. There are stairs to get to the outside seating area and the bathroom. I didn't see an ramps or elevators. The menu is small but ask about specials. Very good. We'll be back.Thank you for the kind review. A few corrections though, Our Pastrami Reuben is made with the house-made Russian dressing (my husbands recipe). We do have outdoor seating out back which is ADA accessible via the Iron gate leading in from the parking lot, and that gate is always unlocked when the courtyard is open. This building is 140 years old & a registered historic bldg so the bathrooms being downstairs are not likely to be changed. We are happy to announce though that the city built new ADA accessible public bathrooms only one block away & they are nice & clean located in the parking lot of Commercial & Elm. Thanks again for visiting & we hope to see you back!
