We live in Austin, and stopped here for breakfast a couple of years ago and hated to continue our drive.My Boston-based sister visited this June so we took her to the LBJ National Historic Park, and when she said she wanted a typical Texas meal at noon, I knew exactly where to go. C and C Diner did Not disappoint us!My wife and sister shared the chicken-fried steak, and both proclaimed it as "Excellent!"I had the Jalapeño Reuben. Oh, my... I've eaten a lot of Reuben sandwiches in a lot of places, and none can compare to this awesome TX take on the classic. Plenty of not so lean corn beef, just enough sauce, Texas toast, and the ubiquitous jalapeño made this a new all-time favorite. If that wasn't good enough, I ordered some onion rings and they were also some if not the best I've ever munched. The rings were 1-2" thick, and battered lightly with a tasty, crunchy coating that stuck to the rings and left me thinking about them more than two months later.

I am surprised this is not in the TripAdvisor data base because they have the decal on the front door!This is an excellent wine bar--far better than the average of what we have experienced. The wine list is OK, but the food is outstanding. We saw some nice salads and great looking pizzas being served, but we went with 3 different meats, a great flat bread and the olives. The portions were good for 2 people and we were happy with the presentation.The ambiance of the place is very good and there is an outside option available. Parking, on the other hand, is a real pain. There are limited angle parking slots in the font, but you have to approach the restaurant from the north on 281 to use them. The turn lane from the south does not allow you to get into the parking area, You can drive around the block and approach it from the north. There is some parking on the side streets.Johnson City has a number of excellent place to eat. This is one of them. This is not fine dining, but it is good food well served by a staff that does not accept tips--their compensation is built into the food price. We will use them again when we are looking for a casual meal.

Stopped in here before doing the Willow City Loop. My husband ordered the Country fried steak. It was so big it almost covered his plate. Just be careful trying to turn left at the stop light when you leave lol!

I loved this cute pit stop. Nice snacks and juices, coffees, soups, sarmies etc. very well priced. Indoor and outdoor seating. Wheelchair friendly. Street parking. Came on a rainy day and enjoyed the cozy atmosphere inside

The owner, Bryan, gave us his recommendations for food and wine. We were a group of 11. He even offered to make a tasting menu with several courses, however we ate off the menu. That was a great choice. We all our meals!

Genuine Texas chili is difficult to find outside of someone's home. The East Main Grill has it every day and it makes an excellent lunch. Oddly, it's not easily found on the menu; so ask! You'll be glad you did. It's a very nice rustic atmosphere, and the wait staff is exceptionally friendly. If you are visiting from the north, it's likely you've never tasted real chili. Do yourself a favor and visit the East Main Grill.

Went there with friends after an afternoon of wineries. Pleasantly surprised at their pizzas. Out wait person, Edie, recommended them as her favorite and I leaned why. They actually tasted like a true brick oven pizza. While they say they are Napolenta they really arenât and I never expected them to be. However if you are in the Hill Country they are a darn good substitute!Plus the local beer is great!
