Stopped in Beckley on our way home from Georgia. Ruby Tuesdays was close to our hotel, so it was a convenient choice for us.The hostess was pleasant and seated us quickly. Our server came to take our drink orders quickly as well. While observing the salad bar, I noticed things that helped me quickly decide against the salad i initially intended to add to my meal. One man coughed, covering his mouth with his hand, then grabbed the tongs with that same hand. I observed someone else scratching the inside of his nose and grabbing the tongs. If I ever do a salad bar, I will BMOT (bring my own tongs).Other than that, I really don't have any complaints. I ordered a Cajun Chicken and Pasta dish that was very good. I also had a Pina Colada, which was excellent. Our server checked on us frequently and the manager came by to ensure we were satisfied with our meal and the service. The overall ambiance was lacking, but it was a Ruby Tuesdays, so I have to consider that. I would return.

Ate dinner here while traveling. Ordered drinks at the bar while waiting. Good service.Ordered sirloin and grilled salmon, both great. Service was not great. Waitress asked about Au jus for potatoes, which she had suggested since they donât have gravy, and asparagus, an upgrade, and a lemon wedge that we had ordered. All arrived after we were half through dinner.I hate it when they donât take the dirty dishes off the table when youâre done so you can finish your wine. She walked by several times with nothing in her hands, looked down but never took anything. I think this is a lack of training.

Wife and I were both in the mood for a good burger, so we decided on Cheddar's. Typically they are one of the better places to go for burgers, but not so tonight. Our burgers were borderline inedible. I believe they changed them altogether. It was nothing but a greasy mess, and very bland. I managed to eat half of mine before calling it quits, and I ALWAYS finish a burger. My wife took three bites of hers and couldn't handle anymore. When the server came with the check, she asked if we needed boxes. I politely declined and asked if they changed their recipe lately. She said she didn't believe so and asked if it was not good. I said no it was not good at all. I already had my card out to give her when she brought the check to the table. Apparently she didn't find it unusual to have so much food left on the plates and not even take boxes for it. All she said was I'm sorry as she took the check and bright back my receipt with a thank you. I didn't push the issue, but I won't be returning to Cheddar's anytime soon.

I wouldn't recommend this place if you are a bbq connoisseur, but if you have a craving for bbq it hits the spot. I liked the sweeter bbq sauce. The turkey and chicken were tasty. There is free ice cream, which was creamy and sweet ending to the meal. Large portions for lunch--you won't walk away hungry. The rolls were amazing!

Passing through Beckley, my family of four wanted to experience some local, non-chain food for dinner. Calacino's seemed like just the place. It took a second to realize that there are really two entrances, one in front for the family-style restaurant and one on the side for the sports bar. From the outside, the whole establishment looked pretty old school, but when you walked in the restaurant and saw a man spinning pizza dough in the air with his fingers, you knew you had arrived somewhere special. The Friday night crowd was lively, and most people seemed to know each other. Many people filtered in and out of the sportsbar section, and chatted with the servers. Our waitress was welcoming, and seated us right away. The menu has all the Italian / pizza place-items you'd expect. We went for pepperoni pizza and lasagna. Both were yummy and satisfying. Overall, if you are traveling through town and want to sample an old school local restaurant, try Calacino's out. You'll be happy you did.

southern cooking
This place has not slowed down since I first visited. The quality and atmosphere are just as an authentic country cooking experience as they were when I was in high school. I don't believe there is anything on the menu that I don't like. I highly recommend the breakfast platters, but if you're in there for dinner, I would encourage you to try the chicken and dumplings or trout. I visit every time I am home and there is no doubt that I will be back.

Bistro with full service bar and Beckley's First Brew Pub
After very slow service during our last visit we were a bit hesitant to try Dobra's again but very glad we did. We arrived early, no one in dining rooms and a few patrons in the bar area. Seated right away. Ordered drinks which came out quickly. We got the catfish bites as appetizers and they were very good as usual. Entrees were the Mediterranean Chicken, which I had before...(stick with a good thing, right!) and the Risotto with chicken. Side of salad with sweet basil dressing and the soup of the day...(black bean I think..he liked it) Veggies sides were the green beans with bacon and grilled asparagus...both very good! Everything was very good, hot and came out with perfect timing. Big portions too. We shared the lemon creme cake which was great too. There were two servers, which was good to see as in the past we have seen only one on some nights which has to be a challenge. The restaurant was starting to fill up as we left. So glad to see this place still doing well...and the food has stayed consistently very good! Keep it up! The menu is great right now...don't change it too much more! Including the prices! :) Stay as is.So glad you enjoyed your experience and keep coming back. Donât worry we wonât change the menu too much but we do like to mix things up with seasonal changes. Sometimes we even grow our own veges our back ;-). Our specials are also a way for us to test out new additions to the menu, and a way for us to stretch our creative legs. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram @dobrazupas for sneak peaks of all the new and special items. We look forward to your next visit and hope we keep meeting, or exceeding, expectations.

Before there was Sonic there were places like this...and this one is still in business. Old-fashioned American comfort food brought right to your car at a fair price. I had a difficult decision choosing from their extensive menu, but I went for a chicken sandwich, fries, and Diet Coke. I enjoyed it, and I think you would too. They bring your order on trays that are custom fitted for the side windows of most vehicles (you have to roll it up just a couple inches). When you are finished they will take your tray and trash, or you can dispose of it yourself if you want. They do have overflow parking if you can't find a space under the canopy. Hopefully it won't be raining or excessively hot that day. Besides chicken they have something for everyone, such as but not limited to burgers (of course!), hot dogs, fish sandwiches, pizza, and sloppy joes. They have a plentiful assortment of beverages as well.I was staying with relatives in Charleston. Yes, it's a long trek on a (toll) Interstate just for a drive-in eatery, but when I found this place on another website I said to myself, "I've got to try this." I've ventured to off-the-beaten-path places like this and been disappointed, but not this time. Not next summer necessarily, but I would do it again. One caveat and one FYI: They are closed Wednesdays. Also, where it's situated, turning left to go north on US 19 may be difficult at times.

The $10.00 all you can eat is really good. Really, all the food at Tamarack is good. Yes, a little pricey, but fresh well seasoned and hot. The atmosphere is pleasant, but nothing over the top. After dining get an ice cream or cup of coffee and wander around the art work which you can't afford. A very nice way to spend a couple of hours. We're very glad to hear that you enjoyed our All You Can Eat Breakfast. We have lots of different items for sale at various price points. Sorry you didn't see anything in your price range. Maybe next time. We hope to see you back!

We stopped in Beckley on the way up north from South Carolina. We always like to try local spots rather than the usual chain fast food places when we are traveling, and we found The Char on TripAdvisor. It was pretty good. Service is good and there is valet parking. It all seems like fine dining but while the food is good, it is not as good as the venue and service suggest it should be, and itâs perhaps a little overpriced. Still, Iâd go again over the local Outback Steakhouse.
