This location has had several operators and names over the years, but it appears that the new owners have not just slapped on a new coat of paint - they have gutted and remodeled most of the inside. That probably goes for the kitchen, too, as I had heard they were in a dispute with the city over building upgrades. Glad to see it's settled and open, after a long time. This is pretty much the only homestyle eatery south of US Hwy 80 in Mesquite. It's casual, comfortable, and cozy, but tables are spaced nicely so that you don't bump up against someone seated behind you. Homestyle meatloaf and mashed potatoes were standard, but the chicken fried steak was a standout! Friendly and attentive service. Clean atmosphere. Reasonably priced. We'll return for some of their steaks and Tex-Mex. This town needs more restaurants like this - not more fast food or pizza chains.

I reviewed this restaurant about 6 months ago, but I ordered some different items this time, so I decided to give it another review. My dining partner and I both ordered steak this time, and both were done to order (medium and medium rare). The grilled shrimp accompanying our steaks were a bit skinny, but tasted great, and were not overdone & tough. Side dishes and salads were fresh. The only glitch in our experience was that the wine list on the table had not been updated, and my dining partner's wine choice was no longer available. The bartender came over personally to our table with some suggestions and tasting goblets. The manager apologized but it all turned out OK and the wine choice ended up being very nice. Our server tonight was energetic and enthusiastic. Place was clean and spiffy, and I believe this manager is new. All in all, a pleasant experience. Considering this is one of only a few places in Mesquite I consider to be a "nice" place to eat out, we will likely return.

We went here after reading the reviews, and we are glad we did.I got the two meat plate with brisket and sausage with BBQ beans and fried fkra for sides.My wife got the rib plate with potato salad and green beans.The brisket was excellent, The sausage was good but not to my taste, the BBQ beans reminded me of B&M baked canned beans, and the okra was fantastic. The Ribs were very good, the Potato salad was mild but tasty and the Green Beans had a very peppery bite to them. I love black pepper, yet the green beans were to much for my taste.The portions were good on the meats and very large on the sides.We would highly recommend going here for some Q.

Waited behind one customer that was ordering. They had a HUGE issue getting it right. Waited for almost 10 minutes (no kidding on the time). They finally got to me, all I wanted was a 2 piece meal with the potato wedges instead of the mashed potatoes, and they wouldn't do it. She actually told me sorry, the menu for KFC can't be changed. It's as ordered as shown. No substitutions. UNBELIEVABLE. I wonder if KFC ever knew about that policy. Not amazing that I left there, went to a restaurant next door, and I'm still sitting here looking at a hopping restaurant where I'm at, but KFC, all I se now in the window is employees standing around talking. No customers in sight.

The good: service very good today. Usually is.Not so good: food, ok at best. Green beans bland. Very bland actually. Mac and cheese? No...mac and tonatoes??? Who does that? Fried green tomatoes very hard. Dumplings good, but not great.And, flies. Way too many flies! I expect an occasional one, but several today. A/C not up to par I guess. Way too warm in here today.I hope they're back up to par next time. Usually a solid 3-4 easily, and rarely less than a 4.

Decided we wanted cajun for lunch, so wife and I chose this one. First time. Tucked away in a strip center in a neighboring town, I was dubious, but tried it. A really mixed bag so let me separate the review by food, service, and presentation. The food gets a solid B. Tasty, a bit spicy and a bit pricey. Gumbo was full of meat and seasons but too hot for a normal person to enjoy. Next, service. Poor, poor,poor. Slow and not responsive. And, lastly, presentation. Strange. Drinks served in styro cups. Utensils were plastic with no knives. My sausage was served in a clear plastic bag holding the meat and juice. Catfish and shrimp were tasty but over cooked and served in a paper boat.Over all, no more visits even though the hush puppies were worth the drive. Just too strange for me.Jim, thanks for taking the time to review your visit. We do apologize your first time fell short of expectations, but appreciate you sharing some feedback. We hope you'll decide to join us again in the future.

Fast, cheap, good. In fact, this was the best drive-thru, no-where-near-a-body-of-water seafood restaurant around. The original fish is great, the cajun dipping sauce is superb, the shrimp is delish--great place all around, for the money and the convenience.

Found BBB doing a TA search while looking for a unique place to have lunch. BBB is a real drive in with no seating available. Eat in your vehicle or take it with you. I chose the former. The burger was great. Kinda like you'd make at home (provided you know how to cook burgers!).The "car hop" (dare I say that in today's PC climate?) was as nice as she could be. Was a bit more expensive than I anticipated. See attached photo of the BBB menu board. Recommended.
