Moravia, Czech Republic Food Guide: 3 Fusion food Must-Eat Restaurants & Street Food Stalls in Brno

August 21, 2020 Major Galusha

Find out what Fusion restaurants to try in Brno. The charms of the Czech Republic's second-largest city may not be immediate, but spend a few days in this Moravian town and Brno's vibrant, authentic Czech ambiance will win you over. It's a fine way to experience Czech life without the teeming herds of tourists that visit Prague. Art Nouveau, Empire and Neoclassical buildings stand in the bar- and restaurant-packed old city center. Leafy parks abound. Be sure to get a photo with a local landmark, the suspiciously crocodilian Brno Dragon statue.

The food was exquisite, service polite and mindful. Everything just clicked into its place here. I usually do not like the staff in fine dining restaurants going around asking you if everything is alright each bloody 5 minutes, but here they give you your space. Sushi is by far the best in Brno. Plus the atmosphere is just what is needed for me to want to get 'offline' and enjoy the company of a person I am having dinner with.Děkujeme!:-)S úctouJanko Martinkovič

After visiting the nearby Tech Museum, stumbled upon this restaurant by chance. Was immediately seated even though the dining hall was near full. Waiter provided menus and took drink order while making a few recommendations. Waiter Immediately returned and took orders based on his recommendations. Food was excellent, service was great. Very pleased. Would recommend restaurant to any visitor looking for an American style menu.

Our Gate 1 Tour of 22 persons was scheduled to have a group dinner here on the evening of September 26. We were excited to dine at the table in this beautiful dining room. When my spouse and I, and several others, sat down just before our scheduled dinner, we were told that our dinner was cancelled due to the fashion show that night in the hotel, and that the room had been rescheduled for "more important guests". This was the room that Gate 1 Tours have used in past seasons for the group dinner in Brno. Even our tour leader had no idea that we had been rudely displaced!Shortly thereafter, we were informed that our dinner had been moved to the basement...Repeat...THE BASEMENT!!!This basement room was horrible, stark, bare, with no ambience whatsoever. A hotel guide was required to guide us along the bowels of this ugly understory until we reached the barebones room furnished with cheap plastic chairs that offered no beauty anywhere. It definitely looked like an ugly basement!! For such a classy hotel and restaurant, our meal was terrible, and I mean miserably terrible!!! We were served over-cooked pork and dumplings along with poor quality sweet sauerkraut. Cheap, watery chicken soup and a pathetic apple strudel for desert completed the meal. This was the worst meal, and the most deplorable setting in which we dined during our entire 11-day tour of Slovakia and the Czech Republic.Barcelo Palace Hotel Brno, this was a major failure on your part. You failed Big Time, and you should be ashamed to seat a group in such a miserable place for dinner, and then to serve such an aweful meal. You definitely destroyed what had previously been an amazing experience.Dear guest,First of all, thank you for finding time to write this review about our hotel and dinner experience.I am really sorry that you did not like our Czech cuisine from our professional cooks’ team. I already mentioned all your remarks about food to the following department. Nobody else from your group did not complain about the quality of the food during your diner and your stay at hotel. Also, your group received compensation in the form of free non-alcoholic beverages. And most of your group had been watching fashion show for free. The fashion show had place at hall of our hotel which has nothing in common with the restaurant and banquet space for your dinner. Our basement with interior created by Spanish designers attracts a lot of customers and we organize birthdays, conferences and weddings there often. But anyway, we appreciate your opinion about it and next time, please, do not hesitate to inform our personal about any inconveniences and we will try to do our best for your satisfaction.Once again, thank you for your visit and constructive critics, we hope that you had a nice journey back home and in the future we will have a chance to serve you again and to show you a high level of service and our cuisine.Kind regards, Uliana Hicl Guest Experience Manager
