This was a great place to get a warm beverage on a chilly January morning. A lot of snow birds here. They even offer a discounted cup to snow birds if interested in buying. Great atmosphere, meet some nice people and the workers were nice as well. They even had treats for your four legged babies too ❤️❤️

Sunset Bay Cafe

With Nearly two decades of restaurant management and menu development experience, Bryce Jarvis knows what a customer expects from a resort restaurant. "I'm passionate about providing a great experience for our customer, and the Sunset Bay Cafe gives me the opportunity to share what I love best about food and Destin, Sandestin, The Beaches of South Walton, and the Emerald Coast with both visitors and locals alike." The Sunset Bay Cafe space has been a number of different restaurants over the years, but Bryce, and his co-owner Gary Jarvis, feel the location needs a locals touch to really make the most out of the views and the ingredients available to the kitchen. As captain of The Backdown 2, Captain Jarvis lends an expert's eye to local and sustainable seafood and fresh ingredients. "Our menu really focuses on the best ingredients available every season, " he says. In addition to classic breakfast favorites like pancakes and waffles, diners will be able to taste some really innovative twists on classics, like Roast Beef Benedict and a fish of the day. Located near the Linkside Conference Center, the restaurant overlooks Choctawhatchee Bay and offers a full bar, outside dining options, a Tiki bar, and "grab and go" options, perfect for the golf course, the pool, or the beach. Holy Cakes, an award winning bakery owned by Bryce's wife Miranda, provides an assortment of muffins and cupcakes daily, and social orders by request. The Sunset Bay Cafe celebrates the spirit of "Old Florida" while encouraging innovative cooking emphasizing fresh, local ingredients.

The short version is that the service was really sub par.
The restaurant is clean and the decor is nice. My wife and I arrived and the restaurant to meet another couple. There was no one near the entrance, so we just walked in to find out party. The ordering of the drinks was fine, but our table ordered two appetizers and only received one. Then the water refills were quite slow. Our meals took much longer than normal to arrive and my wife received her salad at the same time that she received her entree, additionally the four entrees arrived at our table at different times. I do t think I am stretching to say that a four top should have the food arrive at the same time. AND given the fact that one appetizer never arrived, it caused more heart burn to receive our entrees separately.
During the meal my water glass remained empty for 20 minutes.
We received our bill with no apology for the lack of appetizer and yet again there was no refill on the water for 20 minutes (and I’ll mention that we ordered at least 6 adult beverages so it’s not like we were wasting seat time without spending money).
I’m just super disappointed in the execution of service given that my steak alone was $65. It should be premium service at this price point.

My entree was decent, my wife said her food was very tasty.

My wife loves French toast and was not disappointed. It was a large portion sprinkled with cinnamon and confectioners sugar with a side of fresh blueberries. I ordered the Zeus omelette which was stuffed with feta cheese, sausage, bell peppers, onions, and gyro meat. It was well seasoned and for me perhaps a little over cooked. The potato breakfast fries were good but nothing special. Our meal did not come out all together and I had to ask the waiter to check on the rest of our order.

This is a shopping mall venue...a relatively small restaurant with a full bar in the room. Parking is shared mall area parking. It looked like they have seating for about 30 at tables and another 8-10 at the bar. The tables are fairly tightly packed, without a lot of room between them. It's all "open air"...no table separators...nothing handing from the ceiling to create any feeling of separation between your table and everyone else in the room.

As is way too common among Oriental restaurants, they've stacked their extra chairs and high-chairs in the hallway that either leads to the restrooms or the kitchen (I didn't leave my seat, so I don't know where the hallway goes), right where those of us sitting in the dining area get to see them...kind of a bush-league touch. I didn't check the restroom to see if it was clean, but the rest of the restaurant was very clean, so I wasn't all that worried about the restroom.

My wife, daughter, and I ordered a good assortment of sushi, and we thought all of it was very good. None of the choices stood out as excellent, but all of it was good. Service was friendly and far better than average.

As we enjoyed our sushi the afternoon sun broke through the clouds outside, and every time someone opened the exterior door to go in or out, the sunlight pretty much blinded half the people in the restaurant. This restaurant needs a sheltered entrance worse then most restaurants in the area...something to cut the sunlight and wind, that really impacts the dining experience for those of us in the seats. Not good.

Overall, I have no complaints about the service or the food. It was all good. It's just no where near the best sushi restaurant in the area...not even close. I'm shocked to see how highly this restaurant has been rated by others.

There's nothing about this restaurant that puts it in the same league as Harbor Docks, Camille's, Osaka, or VKI.

We went to Marlin Grill for dinner and found they have a special between 5-6 p.m. which is 3 (appetizer, salad, entree) for 33 bucks. First of all, when you walk into the restaurant it's like stepping into a Christmas wonderland. The decorations that adorned the restaurant for the holiday looked like something out of a magazine. Just beautiful and so colorful. The staff did a great job with the decorations. We were seated by the front window and could look out at santa's sleigh that was in the middle of the courtyard. We were greeted by a young lady who offered us french or wheat bread along with a scoop of honey butter. The bread was hot and the butter made it even better. I ended up getting the duck egg rolls, garden salad, and the filet mignon with fries. My sister got the blue crab cakes, caesar salad, and pan sauteed grouper for dinner. The egg roll was good, I really couldn't tell there was duck in it but had good flavor. My sister's blue crab cake was delicious and was more to her liking of being thin and not a lot of breading. My filet was done perfectly but the french fries were some of the best fries I have ever had! They were hot and tender on the inside and had some type of light breading on the outside. They were to die for in my book. My sister's grouper was done perfectly and she loved the flavor as well. We ended up getting the godiva white chocolate creme brulee which was huge and very creamy. Our meal was wonderful and the ambiance of the place put you into a great Christmas mood.
