Michelstadt is very busy at the moment due to the carnival so most places in this lovely town are very busy with visitors but I still managed to find room in this beautiful Bavarian restaurant and have a delightful cold Bitburger beer and Brockwurst in their beer garden.
Relaxing surroundings and excellent hospitality.

We visited Michelstadt for the Christmas market which according to the website was on but when we got there found was closed. We were tired and hungry from our long drive through the fog and saw a cosy looking restaurant in the main square.
The welcome was all we could desire and we settled to look at the menu. The four of us decided to share garlic bread (sorry I forget the German for this) and one of us had tomato soup. the garlic bread arrived steaming hot and was the twizzly sticks which tasted marvelous and some of us dunked in the tomato soup.
We chose a range of main courses including pizza, penne arrabiata, mushroom risotto and a tortellini dish similar to carbonara. These were all wonderful, my pizza tasted like the ones I've had in Italy, very good.
We didn't have desert but did have 6 cold drinks between us, plus 2 coffees and 1 tea. We also had limoncello to finish off. The whole meal came to under €60 which was very reasonable we thought.
The staff were friendly and encouraged my use of Italian (a smattering) and chatted with us all for a while before we set off back out into the fog.
Our trip was part of a tour round the Christmas markets while we're staying here with family. they are planning to return here again before Christmas and we will be definitely visiting again next time we are over.

We visited here as part of a business trip & this restaurant came highly recommended by a colleague. All I can say is , Wow; the food although relatively simple is absolutely fantastic, the beer is even better. The ale which is brewed on the premises is an absolute delight, the staff are friendly & the atmosphere welcoming & friendly. If you only eat once in Michelstadt, it must be here. My only complaint? We didn't stay long enough.

Cafe Sieffert is known chiefly for the konditorei creations of owner-cher Berndt Sieffert. He has been a confectioner to the stars. The restaurant itself sits on the main thoroughfare of Michestadt within sight of the town's famous Rathaus. We arrived early ahead of the lunch and afternoon coffee and cake crowd. I ordered a salad topped with Maultaschen. Outstanding and a beautiful presentation. But the main event at Sieffert is always the Deserts. We had two: an apricot and custard pie, that was delicious but was surpassed by the chocolate mousse torte. The torte was a transport of delights, beautiful to look at and a treat for the tongue. Sieffert's "Weltmeisterschaft" is proudly displayed in the front window and his many other awards along an inside wall. Vist Michelstadt and don't miss this Cafe.

Checking out Michelsstadt we saw this brewery with its inner courtyard and checked out the menu. With local chanterelle as season special we couldn't resist - and were very surprised. An very tasty meal at an unbeatable price less than 15 Euro. Accompanied with locally brewed beer and sitting in the very peaceful and shady, but no fancy inner courtyard we really had a good time.

Meine 3 Damen und ich waren zu Besuch in Michelstadt und haben uns für den Abend in Tripadvisor bzgl. Abendessen umgesehen. Die Pizzeria Romana bei Angelo ist meinen Töchtern sofort ins Auge gestochen und der Besuch war beschlossene Sache. Adresse gesucht und schnell gefunden, Lokal betreten und auch schnell einen Platz bekommen und schon geht es zur Bestellung, alle vier haben wir uns für eine Pizza (2xSuprema, 1xMilano und 1xPizza Schinken) sowie einen "großen" Salat Romana als "Vorspeise". Zum Salat wurde uns weder ein Brot noch Balsamico angeboten, zur Pizza haben wir weder ein scharfes Öl noch Knoblauchöl auf unsere Nachfrage bekommen, als Trost hat man uns Tabasco angeboten !?
Die Pizza war gut belegt (leider mit Dosenchampions) aber als große Pizza bezeichnet muss ich als Oberbayer erwähnen......Kinderpizza, meine 9-jährige wurde satt, der Rest der Familie stürzte sich über den "großen" Salat. um die große Pizza zu kompensieren.
Naja der Rest ist Geschichte, 55,- Euro für 4 Pizzen und einen "großen" Salat sowie 4 Getränke sind ein stolzer Preis, wo wir mehr erwartet hätten.

Der Außenbereich der Restaurants ist sehr weitläufig unter großen Bäumen angelegt. Im anschließenden Tiergehege kann man Hirsche und Rehe beim grasen zuschauen .... sehr idyllisch.
Beim Service "hackt" es allerdings .... dieser ist zwar freundlich, jedoch unkoordiniert und chaotisch. Die lange Wartezeit lässt sich aufgrund des schönen Ambientes allerdings gut aushalten. Die Speisekarte erinnert an die Schnitzelbuden der Siebziger Jahre ... hier könnte man mehr draus machen.
Der Handkäs mit Musik war sehr gut. Das Rumpfsteak leider nur mittelmäßig, die Beilagen jedoch wieder sehr gut.
In einem Biergarten erwartet man keine kulinarischen Höhenflüge, aber etwas mehr Auswahl auch an einfacher Hausmannskost wären wünschenswert. Beim Service müsste man auch noch etwas nachhelfen, dann könnte das Forsthaus sicherlich ein Highlight werden, schon aufgrund der schönen Lage und des schönen Ambientes.
Insgesamt aber kann man das Forsthaus, bzw. den Biergarten empfehlen.

Wir kennen Domenico noch aus seiner Zeit in Höchst. Waren jetzt hier in Michelstadt zum wiederholten Male. Speisen wie früher gut und in Ordnung. Domenico sollte sich aber mal sein Servicepersonal zur Brust nehmen. Hier kommt es auf die Tagesform an. Mal nett und freundlich mal mürrisch und total uninteressiert. Immerhin lebt aich der Service von den Gästen. Preise im gehobenen Segment.

We were wandering around the cobbled streets of the historic town of Michelstadt and wanting to eat breakfast. We stumbled upon Die Traumerei and ordered 2 Fruhstuck. It is a 3 tiered stand with fruit and Bircher muesli on the top tier, preserves, clotted cream, cream cheese with chives and Nutella on the middle layer then the third layer was a selection of cheeses, cold meats, boiled eggs and salmon. You have the choice of a glass of champagne or orange juice. It was delicious and eye catching. I would highly recommend it and the price of €22.50 for 2 people was very reasonable. Tea and coffee is an extra charge.

This is a family run conditerei - German to the core, so all the baking is authentic and the cakes are simply delicious.The Nougat loaf is superb. The cafe itself is small and intimate and the atmosphere friendly and warm. When in Michelstadt- don't miss this treat!
