On this great week of August, it is not easy to find a good terrasse with a good food. The waitress gave us quickly a good table in the edge of the pedestrian street.Even if our German is quite limited, she understood quickly what we liked and we can confirm that it was tasteful. We saw that the place was well rated in TA, and can confirm the quality. Of course, we always dream about originale cuisine to get away from the local standards, but this is asking a lot for the area,Enjoy the friendly atmosphère under a great blue sky!F.

Being a native Rostocker, this little gem in the beautiful landscape of the "Darss" peninsula - is without any doubt one of my favorites. After a nice stroll at the Baltic Sea, you just have to stop at the Haferland for some home-baked fruit cake and coffee while enjoying the view on the "Bodden" lake form their terrace. If you come for dinner, make sure you grab some of that fresh fish from local fishermen. Most of their veggies come right from their own veggie garden in the back (insider tip - just walk around the hotel and take a look, they have a beautiful property and if you're lucky, you might run into the Chef picking some herbs him/herself).

You'll be sure to find something which tickles your fancy. They have fish, game ("wild") and some dishes which you need to pre-order. We had both fish and wild boar which tasted delicious. The atmosphere is lovely with the fire place almost as a center piece in the decoration. It is a small place so making a reservation might be safer than just turning up. Would visit again if in the area.

its a pity we only had time for a coffee and a piece of cake. All the food that was being brought out of the kitchen looked fantastic.Next time we will stay longer and order something more substantial.

Food was ok, service was a little slow. I had the seafood soup, tasted very much like tomato soup with some seafood thrown in. Kids had the schnitzel and burger and they were much better. We should have made reservations, apparently no seats inside, so we sat outside. We waited 20min for the menus because there were no menus left. Then it started to rain and was offered seats inside, and there were lots of free tables. But overall ok.

Cosy atmosphere overlooking Born Harbour. Food was really good - we had the wild boar, lamb and plaice (Schollenfilet). And to top off fast and friendly service.
