The Mill

We used Trip Advisor to find a place close to our kids’ camp for a bite to eat before pickup. This is a restaurant with a pub-like atmosphere. Nothing fancy. We were seated in the lounge. There was live music while we were there. The musician was very good. The volume was also at an acceptable level. We were greeted with smiles and immediately seated. Our waitress was friendly and attentive and was knowledgeable about the extensive menu. I ordered a white sangria and enjoyed it. We ordered clam chowder. The soup was hot and thick. A little salty, but very edible. I got the pulled pork plate and my date got meatloaf. Everything came out quickly which makes me believe that it was all precooked. The pulled pork was flavorful but a little dry. The cole slaw was tasty, but the beans were nothing special and lacked flavor. Unfortunately, my date did not enjoy his meal. When asked, he said he didn’t like the taste. I tried it and have to agree that it was not to my taste either. We ordered dessert. I got the strawberry shortcake and he got the sherbet. Both were tasty. . There are a lot of good things to be said about the Mill. There are tons of things to choose from on the menu, the prices are very reasonable and the service is super friendly and lighting quick. The drinks are very good. We will come back another day and try something else before we discount this restaurant.

The Sole Proprietor

We had a delicious dinner recently at this restaurant. Service was excellent. We started off with very good clam chowder and then had grilled salmon and fish & chips. All were excellent. The only downside (surprisingly) was dessert. My husband had tiramasu and it was tasteless. He has had it dozens of times in other restaurants and this was by far the oddest tasting tiramasu. I had the apple Brown Betty and it was way too sweet, loaded with lots & lots of sugar. When we were asked whether we enjoyed the desserts, we were honest & our wait staff were kind & only charged us for one dessert. Would go back again, but would not order dessert.

West Boylston Seafood

West Boylston Seafood operates three different businesses in one building: a restaurant, a retail seafood market, and a wholesale seafood company that serves Worcester County. We had another successful takeout order in recent days. We had fried scallops, french fires, and coleslaw. All were excellent. The best scallops we had had in several years. (Typically, our order is ready before we can drive there to pick it up.

My wife, son and I visit the Spa a couple times a year for breakfast. The menu is extensive and the food is delicious. I would recommend the corned beef hash as it's a bit different than most I have had but every bit as good if not better than most. The service can be slow but the old building is a neat spot to dine especially if you get a window seat looking out onto Main Street. Prices are more than reasonable.

I’ve followed Tim and Susan from their opening in Sterling to their larger facility in Holden both because of the excellent food and because I enjoy them as people as well. They strive to make everyone comfortable, always recognizing their customers, provide excellent meals for omnivores like me with terrific seafood and ribeye dishes to vegetarian dishes with their saute entrees, soups and salads. I enjoy these as well because they’re very well seasoned and thoughtfully prepared; just darn tasty. And then you have Susan’s homemade desserts; like the Boston Cream Pie I had the other night.Stopped in on Thursday, 01/17, for a lighter supper which took a hard left turn when I learned Susan had her Boston Cream Pie! So hard to find and hers is simply excellent. For those of us regulars, we appreciate how Tim and Susan always greet us by name, have developed a staff of very nice, polite servers and provide meals a cut above the norm at good prices.Tim’s clam chowder is the best I’ve ever had, even better than Legal Seafood’s, and his gumbos are also terrific, another item you can’t find often or would try again when you do find them. Tim hand trims all the seafood and steaks; and it shows in the quality of his product. I do a lot of ocean fishing and I still go to Tim for his excellent Ritz crumb coated haddock fish and chips, swordfish and shrimp offerings. My favorite Ribeye offering is steak au poivre. They have 2 parking lots that helps a lot on the busy or rainy nights. They can also handle large/private parties with a room that can be open or closed to the general seating area if you want to celebrate with family or colleagues.

O'Connor's Restaurant & Bar

I’ve eaten here a handful of times and I’ve always enjoyed the atmosphere as well as the food and drinks. My last visit was a bit disappointing. I ordered the Acadia Seafood Platter and it was overcooked and not enjoyable. The veggies on the platter were also overcooked and tasteless. Other meals in our party of three were up to standard and very good. My wife asked about gluten free bread and was warned by the waitress that she would not recommend it. She brought a sample for her to try and indeed, it was awful. This restaurant has a lot of good things going for it but it still has room for improvement. Also, finding a palatable bread for those with dietary restrictions would be a plus.

This place is a fun, local sports bar. They have a great draft list, sandwiches, salads, and pizza - nothing fancy. They do have a great gluten free pizza crust! This was my first time going for trivia, and it was very fun for a group, while eating and drinking!

Don’t be intimidated when you see a line of people sitting in the waiting room to get into Lou Roc’s diner: they move the line along quickly. Service is friendly and very efficient. Their breakfasts are delicious, in fact that’s all I’ve ever eaten there. My favorite is the homemade corn beef hash eggs Benedict breakfast. I always need to take half of the corn beef hash home and have it with eggs again the next morning. All the eggs Benedicts are wonderful as well, simply can’t go wrong. It’s a cute diner that has a front porch added onto the front.

We usually eat breakfast here on Sundays...my husband loves the omelettes. i enjoy the promptness of the wait staff and the way food is served hot. The atmosphere is friendly, customers are happy, and the diner itself is roomy and usually packed. If you must wait to be seated, it is worth it. Parking lot is ample and safe. Come eat at the 122 and see for yourself!

Val's Restaurant & Pizza

Reviewed By Suzanne C

Val's definitely has a following and rightly so. The service is professional, the portions are large, and of good quality and presentation. The only possible negative is an older clientele, now we are all getting older, so know not to expect a hopping fun place.( I visited at lunchtime) If you in for a good hearty meal Val's is the place and you won't leave hungry.
