Build by the sea, with materials borrowed from nature and taken from our region. We respected our local architectural tradition, the environment and quaintness of our country and the result you expect. Waiting for a trip, Greek hospitality and legendary service. Our moto : Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer !

We are located in Marathópolis in Messinia, on the coast of the Ionian Sea. The village is refrain 30km from Kyparissia located on the provincial road Kyparissias - Pylos. Opposite there is island, Proti which is known for its monastery, but also for its ancient ruins that you can visit at any time of year with rental boats (flanges). Our …is located in the harbor of the village took its name from the lighthouse that was at the harbor entrance. Our restaurant hosts frequently gatherings and clubs while the various actors are frequent weddings and christenings. The Faros is a place staffed appropriately to cover the most demanding customer's desires. The tasteful decoration and construction, the technical equipment, the air-conditioned hall, the experienced staff and the music make it an ideal space for a comprehensive and impressive reception. The attention to detail, our experience since 1978, the elegant atmosphere, excellent and rapid service, and above all good food is our guarantee for the success of all your gatherings.
Looking out towards the small harbour we had a nice long lunch of fresh squid, gooey cheese balls and zucchini fritters and their house wine. The staff were friendly and while we were there we looked up the rooms on the wifi and they looked really good value and we wished we had time to stay there!

Panorama Fish Tavern - Restaurant in Marathopolis, where people meet, eat, drink, communicate and above all enjoy the blue of Ionian sea.
We loved this restaurant and visited three times during our recent holiday. We tried two other restaurants in this location and this was by far the best. The setting, looking out to sea, is just perfect and the food and service was excellent. Everything we tried was extremely tasty and the Fava that we had on our last evening as a starter was the best I've ever had. The zucchini balls were also very good as was the grilled local cheese. A really lovely traditional taverna with food cooked and presented with care.

Very nice coffee shop right at the corner of Gargalianoi square.
It is open all day for coffee and snacks and when the sun goes down the music volume increases and the booze starts to flow.
Great place, i suggest you try the Raki with the small tapas-like plates it comes with!

Stopped in late night with the hubster. Greeted by the son whom introduced us to his mother, the amazing KatRina herself. What two beautiful people. Another son was there but he was very busy.
Keira KatRina encouraged me to try her Zucchini balls, which I used to love until I had some in the oldest restaurant in Nafplio and they must have been from their opening day. Totally turned me off from eating them. KatRina said hers are the best. I fell in love with zucchini balls all over again. Brava! And my non fish eating husband gobbled up the grilled fish. Every dish was superbly prepare. This is fine dinning at Mama's. We live to the East but we plan to return soon. KatRina sat and chatted with us but I think we may have kept her up.
Yes, one may say that the food is pricy, but you get what you pay for. In my humble opinion, from east to west-north to south; KatRina's Taverns is the best in all the land!

I've given raving reviews of this restaurant before - but this year, I was disappointed.
It is reasonable to charge high prices for fish; it is reasonable to charge something more for the nice seafront location. And it is true that the quality has remained the same. However, the prices have become exaggerated, esp. conc. non-seafood: 27 Euro for two bottles of beer (4 Euro per beer), 1/2 l wine, a Greek salad and a cheese salad.

Small but tasty menu (it varies daily and there is no written menu) that offers fresh daily variated dishes, we enjoyed great moussakas here, most other restaurants in the village do seafood and only have a few other options, the traditional pre-cooked food not among those options but this place offers those items.
None of the staff spoke English but for a few words but that was no problem. Good house-wine, prices very reasonable

Grigoris is a favorite tavern among locals in the Filiatra-Marathopoli area of Messinia. It is a 2nd generation family-run establishment that offers delicious food, coupled with quick service and competent workers.
The decor is simple, typical of other Greek taverns with a view of a pretty little traditional bay, including an array of fishing boats and swimmers in the summer.
Since all the sea-facing windows are open in summer, air conditioning is not used. Recent improvements include heavy-duty fans for hot summer afternoons and a partially-raised roof to allow more natural light in.
It is my understanding that the restaurant remains open off season.
Each time I visit, I leave fully satisfied, ready for the next opportunity to return. I definitely recommend stopping by.
