Bluff Lake is located in a rural location with a nice lake view and cozy lodge style building. The place is always busy and be prepared for a hour wait. What's the hurry?

Will cook off the menu but it is unspoken discouraged. I ordered a cod instead of the special and didn't get chewed out. The food is not goirmet, but it is very good. Plenty to eat and nice prices. Give it a try.

This old school Dairy Queen has a drive up window, walk up window and no inside seating. They were doing a good business on a hot Sunday afternoon. A cookie dough Blizzard and medium cone were up to Dairy Queen standards.

This was our first experience with this bakery and ordered carrot cake and cheese cake for a family reunion. Both were outstanding. It will be a destination for our next trip.
Wish it were open more hours so we could try more of their products. We were told that their donuts are special, too.

I have to say this was my first time here and the food was average but the service was horrible. First we had to ask for drink twice after waiting 15mins to get service. Then people that came after us got their good first. Then we had to ask twice for a Box n finally asked a busser to get one.

The potato soup was worthwhile considering this is corn country. Locals recommended the place which is meritorious. Service competent. Clean enough. Ironic that the welcome sign was worn. Bordered on quaint.

Ok at best. Very friendly staff and a beautiful old hotel. The food was not that good. I had a vegetable pasta that didn't have much flavor. Not sure if I would try it again.Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry you didn't enjoy your meal. I will talk with our chef and see what we can do to make that dish a tad better. We appreciate your honest review and hope you give us another try.

The food is good and the décor is nice. Pictures on the wall are of Maquoketa history. Prices are good but the café does not accept credit cards. Not convenient. Have a concern with the service. The wait staff on this particular evening gave the impression that they did not want to be there. Not the friendliest indeed.

I had a taco salad very good and filling my two friends each had a salad, French dip with homemade fries they said they loved all of it!!!! I would recommend this to anyone the next time I go I'm getting a hamburger they say their the best in the state of Iowa! Only thing they should work on is asking if you need a refill on your soda they weren't accomadating to that very well! Can't wait to go again thou! If in town stop in delicious!

My wife and I came through for coffee after visiting the Maquoketa Caves State Park. After all that fun hiking, we stopped in for coffee and apple pie. Best coffee in the business!

This place was completely remodeled a year or two ago and is always nice a clean with a friendly staff. The taco or enchilada is always a good option, but don't order too much because the portions are huge!
