Great hotel in the lovely St. Paul’s Bay

Reviewed By E8131RYstever

Our week at the Dolmen was idyllic. In addition to the constantly warm and sunny weather, the hotel was modern and our 4th floor family room spacious, with a separate bedroom plus en-suite and a balcony overlooking the sea. The choice of 4 pools and 4 restaurants was great. As all-inclusive guests you get €7 a person towards the cost in the grill and carvery restaurants. We spent most of our time “through the tunnel” in the beach section where the bar staff were friendly and the infinity pool was a refreshing way to cool off. With not much time for sightseeing we went for a few hours via Bolt taxis to Valletta, which is a picturesque harbour city. Mdina and Gozo are top recommendations from others. Pros - Cafe Delos food is really good for lunch or dinner with large portions and great pasta, pizzas, burgers etc. - ice cream from the cafe is also really good - breakfast and lunch variety in the buffet was good - decent cocktails, beer and brand spirits on all-inclusive - nice looking modern hotel in a quiet area with great views out across the bay - busy town for restaurants and nightlife a short walk away - plenty of sun beds so no need to get up early to reserve them Cons - lack of choice of simple dinner options in buffet for those more picky with their food (mainly local food rather than catering for other nationalities) - limited amount of fresh fruit and veg - house wine was not good - compared to previous all-inclusives we’ve stayed in the time restrictions for food and drink were odd with nothing before 11am other than at breakfast and no afternoon snacks until 4 - evening entertainment was occasional and very low-key - no pool tables or games room - signing for all drinks became annoying and led to one incident when I was wrongly accused of not signing for some and it was not handled well - avoid the warm patches further out to sea…jellyfish lurk there!

We had the most amazing holiday at the Embassy. The staff really do make the hotel experience. When we arrived we were warmly welcomed by Alexzander (sp) he really is a credit to the hotel. Everytime we saw him he made us feel so special and welcomed. The staff on the roof terrace are all so welcoming aswel. We want to give special thanks to two staff who really stood out to us. Khan, he was so attentive, and so friendly. He even came over and said hello when he saw us at the start of his shift. We’re so sorry we knocked over a glass at the pool area- this was no problem for him he was so lovely and reassured us it wasent a problem he really is an amazing staff member. We also want to thank so much, a very tall blonde gentleman who we weren’t able to get the name of unfortunately. He was also an examplary staff member and even bought our towels over to us as we got out the pool. We were not expecting that kind of service, we were so appreciative of your amazing staff! Thankyou so much again for a lovely holiday!

Fabulous hotel which was exceeded expectations

Reviewed By Z2707EXrachelh

We had read and researched the Solana extensively before booking and we were certainly not disappointed. From arrival to departure the staff were first class, nothing was too much bother, always smiling and happy to help. We had been slightly let down with our booking agents promising to pass on requests to the hotel but manageress Anna rectified this immediately. The room was fantastic and well equipped. The pool was cold as was early in the season but very refreshing and although a smallish roof terrace we never struggled for a bed. Location was aprox 20 mins brisk walk to the beach but for a 1.5E ride the bus was a quick option, even only 6.5E in a taxi back up the hill. A great well stocked little supermarket opposite with everything needed. The food was varied, tasty and plenty of choice. A good wine list was also available. Bar snacks were available all day and really tasty. All in all great food options and cocktails too. Anna and her team were first class and glowing ambassadors for the Solana Hotel & Spa. We cannot wait to return.

Stunning Massive Hotel!!!

Had such a wonderful and beautiful stay. Large rooms and great amenities. Swimming pool, bar service, staff, everyone was great and could not help enough! Nearby is the Casino which is just awesome! I did not try all the restaurants as they were closed. Highly recommend staying here. Breakfast was lovely and a good spread. Only gripe is that you have to pay for Wifi! Unless in the lobby area it is free. Found that rather odd. Had a lovely massage too!
