Garcia Punta Carretas

I was expecting great things from this restaurant, however it didn’t quite meet them. The service, wine, cold meats and cheeses were very good. I had heard rave reviews about the baby beef. Unfortunately it was thin, rather dry and overlooked, which was a disappointment. Aside from that everyone else enjoyed their meal and we were looked after extremely well. I’d go back but just order something different!

Empanadas La Cibeles

I ordered two caprese empanadas and a carbonated water. The empanadas were large and warm to the touch. This was a good start. I bite into the first of the two empanadas and encountered a great deal of cheese (too much in my opinion). The further along in eating the large empanada the less warm and pleasant is the experience. I think much less cheese would have been a plus along with thoroughly warm empanada inside as well as outside. Exceptional value though. I will give Las Cibeles another try.

We had been recommended this restaurant so our expectations were rather high, but even so it surprised us with its excellences.Everything was great - the service, the ambiance, the interior design etc.The food was cooked to perfection and the dishes really elevated all its ingredients. The wine list was also great and the staff were able to give some insightful help in choosing wine.I’m very restricted when it comes to give spaces a 5 star review, but in this case there are no other options then 5 stars.

Restaurant specializing in traditional Uruguayan kitchen and grill

After our cruise excursion our tour guide brought us this restaurant for lunch. We started the cruise from Buenos Aires and we stayed 3 days there before the cruise and had some steaks in Argentina. The steaks I had in Garcia was better than the ones I had in Argentina. They are really good. The service was great as well. Highly recommended.

Great restaurant in Montevideo. Excellent customer service. The place is beautifully decorated and the atmosphere is wonderful. My asado was very good and the coffee was great. We asked for ice cream as dessert and this was the only weak point of our dinner as the ice cream is of poor quality. Anyway I loved the place located in a really nice area of Montevideo, El Prado. I will certainly go back to this restaurant.

Uruguay Natural Parrilla Gourmet

Wanted something light in the late afternoon, and this place fit the bill. Close to the Sheraton where we were staying. Had the dual of chirizo and the sweat morcilla (a kind of blood sausage. Both were very good and you would never have guessed that morcilla is a blood sausage (the sweet form has orange rinds, cinnamon, and other interesting ingredients). Service was great. Will be back this trip for sure!

I went to this charming but small restaurant/bar for brunch. The highlight was the french toast with sliced fruit and honey. It was fantastic. The service was very friendly. They do not accept credit cards. BTW it is a short walk to the National Cemetery which is worth a visit after you eat at The Candy Bar.

This parilla came highly recommended so a group of us came here for dinner. After a short wait we were seated at the bar directly facing the BBQ which was perfect so we could watch the cooking and see all the various meats on display waiting to be prepared and cooked. We ordered a variety of steaks, sausages and ribs with sides and a Uruguayan red. I was really impressed with the quality of the meat, cooking and portions. It made for a great dining experience and I was really happy to do an authentic parilla. We must have seemed happy as the locals around us were laughing at our excitement upon the arrival of each plate of food. Highly recommended!

We visited there as a part of a Executive MBA Study group and we had the entire place to our self which allowed us to roam around and explore the place at ease. The museum had myriad collections of tools, kitchen utensils, musical instruments careful chosen and displayed all around the restaurant. From outside the museum/restaurant is discreet and you might miss the small sign on the front wall if you are not looking for it.We had a pre-fixed menu consisting of one of the most unique egg preparation and salad to start with followed by the best steak which I had in Uruguay and ending with amazing flan. I would definitely go back again once back in this country.
