The views are great

Reviewed By Barry P

We stayed at The Hermitage for it's iconic location and great views of Aoraki and the neighboring mountains. It's one of my favorite places to be. We stayed in standard rooms which were conveniently close to everything in the hotel and had a nice view. The facilities are very basic. The staff were friendly and helpful but it is clear they are run off their feet and the hotel is understaffed. Not their fault, more people just don't exist and visitor numbers are significantly down especially mid week. The buffet is the only dinner option, but the cafe is good until 4pm and reasonably priced. Breakfast buffet is good *if* you get there early in the service window.

Had a most idyllic 3 night stay here with family. The villas are absolutely stunning and love the open fireplace and hot spa outside under the stars. The food was brilliant under the competent chef Rafa. Also had a cooking demonstration and learnt so much, a delicious venison meal with panda cotta to follow,To top it off, it was our birthday and Rafa made a beautiful birthday cake to celebrate. Luke was a most gracious host and full of enthusiasm. We loved the astronomy evening with him with a glass of port. A true delight and 5 star experience. If you have any special requests they will try their best to accomodate. A perfect place for a wedding!!

We had an awesome stay at the Mantra in Lake Tekapo. Huge apartment and everything you would need for a family of 4. Also very clean and serviced daily. Heating was great as the weather was cold. The kitchen was well stocked and we were able to cook as the restaurants were all booked or closed in the town.

Amazing Accommodation

This hotel was an excellent overnight stay in Lake Tekapo and a chance to witness the International Dark Sky Reserve with millions of stars. The skylight above the giant super king bed meant you could see the stars and nebula all night. You can also press a button to close the skylight shutter, but it was much more interesting to leave it open. The rooms are super stylish and feature everything you need for your stay. Views of the lake from the room and bathroom with rainfall shower and luxury bathtub. Just a short 10 minute walk down into the town centre in this beautiful little town. Such a peaceful place.

Mt Cook Lodge and Motels

Pleasant stay

Reviewed By Barnali M

We had a pleasant stay here in a 1 bedroom motel unit. These were clean, modern, attractive accommodations that were much more reasonably priced than the Hermitage. Our motel unit had a kitchenette that was well-stocked with coffee and tea; a comfortable living room with a sofa, dining table, patio, and full size bed; a bedroom with a full-size bed and full length mirror; and a bright, modern, well-lit bathroom that had plenty of towels and toiletries. The only downsides were a bit of mildew on the bathroom ceiling, and the fact that housekeeping did not wash our dirty dishes when cleaning the room. Overall, we had a nice stay here, and were so glad we chose to stay here rather than the Hermitage up the hill, which was more than twice the price.

We stayed in our campervan. Very friendly hosts and wonderfully landscaped area. Cabins/motels looked very good if you arrive by car. A short drive to the township with great pies and fish and chips. A good stopover between Christchurch and Wanaka/Queenstown/Mount Cook/Aoraki.
