My husband and I had a wonderful lunch at Mainstreet Sweets while traveling back home from vacation. We got the lunch deal: my husband had Nathan's hot dog while I had the chicken bbq sandwich, chips drink and your choice of ice cream, Great atmosphere, very nostalgic place. Great place to stop for lunch.

On the way from Montgomery, we decided to give Prestons a try based on reviews. Note- I am reviewing the Prestons on 231 south of Troy in the gas station. Not the address above.(Like all other reviews). You are immediately assailed with the smell of smoke, good, sweet hardwood, the smoke that prime meats are covered in to deliver that one of a kind backyard flavor reminding me of childhood. A sparsely decorated venue, done appropriately to match the gas station it shares a building with. The owner came up and chatted, this is a mom and pop in a small town, you kept waiting for Barney and Andy to come in! Everyone knows each other! f you are looking for fine China, 4 star service, linen tablecloths, keep on going, this is a gas station after all! We both ordered burger and rings, a great lunch, big enough for dinner. The menu has steaks, seafood, sandwiches, a full bar, a rather large kiddie section (which I should have ordered from!), several appetizers and even grilled asparagus!!! The burgers were huge, cooked exactly as ordered, seasoned perfectly with a great smokey char....yum! The owner explained that this is real hardwood cooking, not a gas system pushing out millions of BTU's, so be prepared for a wait. The waiter appeared to be new at this game, tending to overly attentive, but very pleasant, and when my drink order was wrong, very apologetic and fixed it immediately, still apologizing......its a southern thing I guess!!! We are wrapping up my 60th birthday tour, and I can honestly say, in 60 years, this is in my top 3 burgers of all time. Fresh toppings, big thick chunks of dill pickle(maybe homemade!),local tomatoes....it just works! The onion rings are handmade, a light crispy seasoned flour/meal crust that is imperfectly perfect. The rings other places only dream of. After this monster, I got a piece of coconut pie to go. It just so happened that some locals had called in and special ordered a coconut pie today and slices were left....yeah me!!! Thick with a sweet custard, chock full of tender sweet coconut and an actual baked merengue on top....delicious. It reminded me of Memaw's coconut pie, and if your from the south you know that is an ultimate compliment!!! There were 10 dessert items, many made in house, one sure to please! We will be returning to give the steaks a try, as these flks have another place somewhere that is a steakhouse I think. Even though it will be 100 plus mile trip, if the steaks are anything like the burgers, it will be well worth the drive. Next time you are in the area, stop on by and give these folks a try!!!! Stay tuned for the steak review!!! Happy eating!!

Quick stop for lunch on the way to the beach! Great pulled pork and or Chicken sandwich. Bun was good quality and toasted. Cole slaw to our taste, not too sweet. Drop the slaw on the pulled pork sandwich and good to go. My 12 year old's comment on the potato salad, "best I have ever had, but I have not had much potato salad!" Clean bathrooms, good value, and friendly service! Worth the stop!

This place is always great. Tasty Mexican food in a little town where you can get an adult beverage with your food. It used to be the only place adult beverages were served in Luverne. Great chili rellanos, fajitas, tamales, Guacomole, standard Mexican fare with efficient service.

the service. Fast friendly service with a smile! Newly improved a few years ago to double order lane. Always busy with tourist traffic going and coming from the beach. May have to wait a little in line.
But always smiling faces.
It is time to take down the Christmas decorations.
