Best bbq Iâve had since Memphis. Varied menu (meats) and an abundance of sides. Three dinners was a lot of food. Two dinners would have been plenty for three of us. All of it was super - I recommend it ALL!!

Hubby was craving somewhere that offered veggie plates, and after some research, we found Kaylaâs. We called and discovered they closed at 2:30 in the afternoon. Business hours are Monday through Friday 11:00 to 2:30. Kaylaâs was located in the historic district of West Monroe. We knew it would be cutting it close, but Kayla encouraged us to come on over for lunch. We walked in and were greeted by Kayla. She was friendly and courteous and took our to go order. The restaurant had a rather large dining room and was very clean. They have a menu by their cash register of daily menu choices. They offered a nice variety to choose from. Their plates range from $9 for a salad or veggie plate and $10 for a meat with two sides. Each plate comes with your choice of bread, and dessert. Iced tea is also included in the price for a lunch plate. I chose their citrus herb chicken with sweet potato, field peas, Mexican corn bread, and wedding cake. Hubby chose a veggie plate that consisted of green beans, stewed squash, field peas, twice potatoes, Mexican corn bread, and peach cobbler. Our faves were the field peas, Citrus chicken, green beans, sweet potato, peach cobbler, wedding cake, and Mexican corn bread. Everything was hot and fresh and tasted homemade. No canned veggies here. I also noticed that Kayla also offered a catering service.

Doeâs steaks are amazing. We like the filets best. John Michael was our server and he was most attentive. Every thing was super, from the tamale appetizer, salad and steaks. Cooked to perfection and so tender. Even the steamed veggies are so good. Thanks for a great experience. We will be back for more of your excellence, in a beautiful building too!

I had dinner recently at the Waterfront Grill. The setting along the river is about as good as you can ask for in Monroe, Louisiana. They have a nice menu with both surf and turf options. None of the fish is fried, and I absolutely love that commitment in a region that is known for fried fish. The Catfish Desiard, which is made up of two fillets topped with bread crumbs, mushrooms, parmesan cheese, and shrimp, was a terrific entree. The stuffed potato side dish would go well with any entree on any day of the year; it was terrific! The prices are a little high (mine was $23) for the area, but I believe the quality is there. The service was exceptional, and the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

Traveling from Alabama to Dallas we stopped in Monroe for some Cajun food. This certainly satisfied our desires and our stomachs! We sat outside overlooking the river. This is no fancy place, just good food, and obviously filled with locals. Go there for the real thing! Donât forget the fried crawfish tails appetizer.....

Our destination restaurant while travelling through Monroe. Excellent service with food to match. Weâve tried different offering on each visit and all apps, mains and sides are of a level that most restaurants canât usually sustain. This time we had great roasted oysters, couldnât pass up the duck fat fries again, wedge salad (wifeâs favorite anywhere), Campfire Redfish and another fish special. Itâs difficult to cook fish correctly, especially different ones being delivered at the same time, but our entrees were perfect. That said, management has to do something about the menâs bathroom. When we asked our server about the water seeping down the wall, a yellow wet floor marker that blocked one sink, she remarked that it had been like that for some time. Unacceptable for any establishment and especially for one at this price point. Obviously, Monroeâs health inspectors havenât been around in a while.
