We are here in Opitter a couple of times a year and were really excited to try the new Brouwershof restaurant. They had torn down the old pub/restaurant/feesthal and renovated an adjacent building in the square. Definately more visual appeal and better location to be seen from the main road. The atmosphere is very modern, clean and welcoming, light and airy with a a nice outdoor seating area as well. Of course they serve the beer from the brewery while I'm not much of a beer drinker, I love the Kriekenbier (cherry) and bosbier (blueberry). Especially on a hot day these are great. I ordered a greek salad and my husband had a pasta dish. Both were really good. Fresh, flavorful and well presented. The prices were reasonable. However, now comes the down side of the review....My in-laws had told us that they had also tried it and were very unhappy with the service/waitstaff and would not likely return (they said the waiter was a young man). We took in the info but, went anyway as it could have been a bad day, misperception etc.... But, unfortunately they were correct. The waitstaff was terrible. Our first waitress was a young woman who was completely impatient/irritated that we wanted time to look at the menu and perhaps punished us by taking a very long time to return for our order. There were only about 4 tables occupied so, she was not busy or overtasked. Some friends of hers came in, sat at the bar where she hung out talking with them until another young lady arrived - apparently shift change. No one ever checked on us again or even made eye contact. There was no chance to order more drinks, no offer of desert or coffee. In fact, we had to wave the second young woman down several times before she came over for us to order coffee. When I asked if I could wrap up the remaining half of my salad there was a very definate attitude that she was not happy. My leftovers came in a container from a grocery store with the lable torn off. Again, when it was time to pay it was a challenge to get her to come over. There was never any attitude from either waitress that would make one feel welcome to be there. Very unfortunate as we really liked the food and atmosphere but, having heard from family that the service was bad and now experiencing it ourselves we will not likely be back - too much money to be treated so poorly.

Oud Bree

Second time here, and I enjoyed every bit of it. Service again was very good from beginning till end. They served a little appetizer of partridge pate with confiture to start with. then I went for the deer with almond croquettes and winter vegetables such as a little baked apple, red cabbage, sprouts and so on, sweet and bitter very nicely combined! For dessert I took the assortment of home made desserts which included tiramisu, black chocolate mousse, bourbon vanilla ice cream and creme brûlée and some seasonal fruits on the side. very, very tasty. Thumbs up for the chef and the staff, keep up the good work.

Ingredi Hotel Brasserie

We had booked this hotel with a Vespa tour through Travel Bird.A smooth check-in.We got room 001 which is the first room on the ground floor. This room opens onto the courtyard, where is also the terrace where guests can eat and drink. This can cause some noise during the late evening. We had a spacious and well-maintained room with a nice bathroom. The sleeping area was on the mezzanine (somewhat on the tight side in terms of walking space). The only downside for us was that someone had been smoking in the room. It smelled clearly of cigarette smoke. The food is exquisite! They have a creative and well-trained cook. The service in the restaurant could be improved. So we got our appetizer after serving our starter. There is no clear line which tables are controlled by whom (everything goes a bit haywire). The breakfast buffet was very well attended. For our Vespa tour, the hotel provided us with a well filled lunch pack.

Pollismolen

Pollismolen is a nice restaurant with a modern, cosy sphere, located in a beautifull walking area with several brooks all coming together in the Itter, a small river with several watermills on it. Also Pollismolen has such a (still active) watermill. Pollismolen has two options: a brasserie (where you can have a drink or eat a brasserie dish) but also a restaurant where you have a beautifull view on the surrounding nature and where food is not 3 Michelin star, but good. They also organize Sunday brunches which can be great (we did several ones)! Pollismolen is certainly worth a try - why not in combination with a walk in the woods (the 6 km walk indicated with a red triangle is a VERY nice one - but do take your walking shoes).
