Reviewed By RGSOUNDF

We would agree with other reviewers on TripAdvisor, for IK is one of the best restaurants we have ever visited, and not only in Lima but in other gastro capitals of the world. We are equally not quite sure why the restaurant is not among the 50 Best, at least in the Latin America. From our first-hand experience, we would theorize that politics are to blame (the same as with other dubious choices characteristic for both The World's Best 50, Michelin, or Gayot, among other guides and lists). Be it as it may, none of the above is relevant. What matters the most is that the restaurant IK does an absolutely tremendous job, in the best traditions of the innovative world gastronomy. A few words about the restaurants's background story. The name IK stands for Ivan Kisic (1976-2012), a much celebrated and immensely talented Peruvian chef who tragically died about seven years ago, in 2012, in a horrific accident that involved 4 people, 3 of them young and aspiring chefs. Ivan Kisic, Maria Huamani, Jason Nanka, and his fiancée Lorena Valdivia, were killed when a truck rammed into their vehicle, and pushed them off a cliff, as they made their way up a windy road in Peru's Ayacucho region. Now, late Ivan's brother, Franco Kisic, who made his bones in the kitchen of the Emperor of the artistic cooking and molecular gastronomy, Chef Albert Adriá in Barcelona, is at the helm of the restaurant IK and his and his team's food is truly breathtaking. The tasting menu, which consists of 13 courses, is an epitome of inventiveness, attention to detail, and love of the local ingredients. The dining area is very creatively designed, dimly lit, spacious and features very generously distanced tables. The wine list if very good and very affordable too. Yet another thing must be mentioned and appreciated. Unlike many of the city's "heavyweights" where your dining check for a tasting menu for 2, even for a lunch experience, would reach the mark of 500 USD before tips, IK's check will be about 60% cheaper, around 220 USD. "Feel the difference!" One last note for the English-speaking guests. Most of the waiting staff doesn't really speak English. However, our server, who apparently doubled as a maitre d', a very amicable tall gentleman, spoke very good English and provided in-depth explanations about each and every course served. And not only that, but an English "IK Experience" menu was specifically printed for us. All if all, easily 10 stars out of 5. We wish IK Restaurante lots of success and highly recommend our foodie readers to visit it at your first occasion.Dear customer, thank you for your comments, we know that you thoroughly enjoyed your experience at IK Restaurant, we are very happy that you liked all the surprises that IK Restaurant has. We hope we've covered your expectations and your visit is remembered with so much happiness.Always happy to make your experience a very happy memory.Best regards!!

What a disappointment!, I used to like Lima 27 so much, but years passed and not changes, not even in the menu...Many things showed in the menu weren’t available, wine list totally over price, they wanted to economize making cocktails, a grey house dry martini testing like martini and looking yellow, what does it said? They don’t want to use vodka only martini, I returned twiceService was good as usual, but the restaurant passed its timeThank you very much for giving us the opportunity to make things better. We regret that your visit has not been of your total satisfaction, and we will take into account each detail mentioned so that your next visit, your experience will be memorable. Thanks again!
