Lesser Poland Province, Poland Food Guide: 4 French food Must-Eat Restaurants & Street Food Stalls in Krakow

October 19, 2019 Leida Jutras

Find out what French restaurants to try in Krakow. Krakow is one of the most culturally and politically significant cities in Poland. It was the central site of the Nazi General Government during WWII, and there’s still a residual feeling of solemnity here that’s especially apparent during visits to the Plaszow Concentration Camp and the Oskar Schindler Factory. Both the Historic City Centre and the Jewish District are brimming with cafés, shops, and pubs, and the 10-acre Main Market Square is a medieval feast for the senses.

A bit towards the expensive side, this nice place is named after Leonardo da Vinci and is amply decorated with Vinci's drawings. The food - even the Polish dumplings - is mostly French-Italian mix, but excellent quality. The wildboar was really good. Good selection of wines, and reasonable service. Nice over all.

Zazie Bistro

We cannot really understand why Zazie is the only restaurant in Cracow having a Michelin Bib Gourmand 2019, reason why we tried it. It is a French style restaurant, nicely decorated like a Parisian bistrot. It had an airconditioning blowing too cold. Staff was mixed friendly, very busy and somehow we did not feel extremely welcome. We tried soup, mussels, fish and salad. Food was OK, but not so outstanding that we feel it is worth the Bib Gourmand. The presentation of the mussels was weird. They came with their liquid sauce in a deep plate, salad was put on top of it, thus getting very wet and weak. Service was very rapid. The restaurant was full all the time, a reservation is necessary. Maybe we had bad luck, but we would not come back as there are so many other good - and even cheaper - restaurants to choose from.
